Castor & Pollux Natural Ultramix Weight Management Adult Dry Dog Food, 15 Pound Bag

My 6 year old lab/golden seemed to like this food at first but after a while would just sit and stare at it. It looked yummy with bits of carrots and banana. Was hoping that he would lose some weight on this food but after a few 15 lbs bags, I could not really see a difference in his weight. I may try other foods but will keep my options open to go back to this food in the future.

I think this is the best dog food on the market today. It is made of wholesome natural ingredients, contains no corn, soy or wheat and the first ingredient is natural chicken. I have been feeding this product for about 2 years now to my 3 Dachshunds. I used to feed Royal Canin for Dachshunds which after getting the last dog became very expensive. As the first 2 were minis and the last is the largest dachshund I had ever seen, I found this product and slowly started to introduce it, so that I was running a 50/50 mixture. I then noticed that they were only eating certain pieces of the food and leaving the rest, that's when I stopped adding the Royal Canin Breed specific. When I couldn't find this product in 30 lb. bags in the stores, I decided I would switch them over to a Blue Buffalo product. So I slowly started to add in some Blue Buffalo, which did not agree with my dogs at all. So back to the Natural Ultramix Weight Management formula as the dachshund is known for becoming overweight. I had even been buying it in 5.5 lb. bags until I found the 30 lb. bags online and because I live in Canada, had to find a way to have it delivered to an address in the States. I managed to resolve that problem, and since then the manufactorer has stopped putting it out in 30 lb. bags. So I now purchase 2-15 lb. bags at a time and will continue to do so.A good friend of mine got a Chocolate Lab from the pound and was looking for a good dog food to feed that her dog would eat, I mentioned this product to her. Because this product is only available in the US she decided to try the Blue Buffalo. When her vet recommended that her still finicky dog loose some weight she asked me for a sample. Her dog loved it but when she went to order it,the 30 lb. bag was no longer available and at the time the 15 lb. bags were out of stock and my fear was that they were only going to sell it in the 5.5 lb. bags. Since then her dog has lost the required weight and she has now put her on the Large Breed Formula.My neighbour got a Siberian Husky from the pound and couldn't find a good food the dog would eat, in fact the dog was not eating enough and the vet wanted to see a weight gain of at least 10 lbs. She had her on Blue Buffalo and she was still was picking at it. I had offered her some for her dog to try explaining it was a weight management, and they had other types available. She put a bowl of it down beside a bowl of the Blue Buffalo product. The dog started picking pieces of fruits and vegetables out of the Ultramix and eventually ate the kibble without touching the Blue Buffalo she had been on. She has been on the large breed formula for just over a month, she has gained 4 lbs this month compared to the 2 the previous month.I would, and do highly recommend this product for any dog. I could not find this product on the True Blue Test. I am hoping the more people talk and praise this companies excellent products, that maybe the will bring back the 30 lb. bags in the Weight Management Formula, as most of their products are available in the 30 lb. bags.

My dog tolerates this food just fine, but I'll have to start looking for something new if the price continues to go up each time I order it. I haven't paid the same price as the month before yet. What gives, Amazon?

This is a great company and a great dog food. I researched and researched, for a dog food with no by products and gluten and all the other crap the dog food company thinks we will fall for, every time I see someone put a cheap dog food in their cart, I feel so sorry for their pets. I also looked for a company that has had no recalls, hasn't killed any pets etc. We have a beagle, and those of you who also have beagles you know they don't know when to quit eating, and ours was getting plump. We started her on this, understand all of our pets are on castor & pollux dog food. Slowly but surely she is losing weight, and in addition, she also has a problem with fatty tumors. Has had several surgeries, the tumors had gotten so large, she could not walk good, WELL to our surprise one of the tumors has gotten smaller, can not tell you why, or even if the good food she is on is responsible, all I can state, is that the tumors are shrinking. This is the best food you can give your dogs, we get compliments all the time on the shiny coats and the softness of the coats, plus they don't eat as much, its pure food not fillers, so the amount almost cuts in half. Would leave no stars if possible. Love this brand, and my dog lovvvvvvvves his food even tho I've been feeding him the same one his whole life and I tried this one and he won't touch it.

Over the years, I have learned that while higher end dog food hits your pocket book a little harder, it is well worth it when I comes to my dog. She has more energy, a better coat, goes to bathroom a lot less and overall is in much better health. For years I fed my dog Blue Buffalo, which I will admit is an excellent dog food. That said, my Yorkie can be a finicky eater and at times seemed to weary of it from time to time. I swapped to Castor & Pollux Ultramix, to see how she would do on it, and have not looked back. The quality is just as good, and the thing I have noticed is that from the time I open the bag to the bottom of the barrel so to speak, she acts like this stuff is candy and it is the best thing she has had in forever. She just loves it,and it never seems to get old to her. I highly recommend it.

My pup lost weight while on the weight management formula, but I'm not sure if it was because of the formula or because he didn't like the way it tasted. Amazon sent me the regular Castor and Pollux as part of my subscribe and save, so I think that I will order this again and mix it in with his regular food. I love this brand and I love that Amazon sends it to my door so I don't have to wrestle with heavy bags at the store!!!

I was looking into getting my miniature poodle, Ms. Goofy, a more natural, made in America, weight management dog food as she is almost 4 pounds overweight (18.6 when she should be no more than 15). I checked out the ingredients and they all had pretty much the same ingredients in the same order and I didn't want anything with fish as it has such a nasty odor that she will not even eat! Next, I looked at customer reviews. This one seemed to be the overall winner in my opinion, though many others had 5 stars. I usually have to hand feed her a new food for at least 3-4 days, but I only had to do this for the first feeding!!! She actually will eat this from her bowl without any coaxing from me!! Between the Castor & Pollux Natural Ultramix Weight Management Adult Dry Dog Food and exercise, we'll get the unwanted excess weight off Ms. Goofy!! And the plus, it is all USA MADE!!!
