Top sound quality, not too comfortable, mediocre build qualty
This is the best set of headphones in terms of sound I ever had. And I've tried lots for listening, dj-ing. Including the high end pioneers and sonys. For the money, the sound clarity is superior and they can get extremely loud given the 3.5Watts power handling without distortion. (5/5).Moving on in terms of comfort, they are way too tight and I find it difficult to use them for hours (3/5). Build quality is not good, I would say the plastics are the same as I saw in 15 pounds cans (2/5). In my case the headband lasted 4 months, plastic parts gave way near the holding brackets (2nd picture). Glue or cable ties might extend the life of these plastic, but for DJ work I don't see them fit. So what I did I took the earpieces out and made a custom headband as you can see in the last couple pictures. And it works way better than the original.Cable length and cable quality is good enough. There is a proprietary 3.5mm socket with a twist lock. If the cable is damaged there is no simple replacement. One way I found is to remove the internal plastic input (has 2 screws that hold it in place) and then I could use any type of 3.5,mm cable I wanted.

Unbelievable
I will keep this as brief as possible.......BUY these headphones!!!They are incredible. I purchased them for DJ / Home-DJ use as well as general music and film listening and cannot give enough superlatives to explain the quality, sound, comfort and overall brilliance of these headphones.Sound quality - I have read reviewers stating the bass is "muddy".....I disagree. The headphones are very bassy for sure, but they are designed for DJ use in a loud club environment where hearing the bass and kick drum etc is paramount. Apart from this, the mids are beautifully crisp and accurate with nice highs to boot. I literally cannot fault the sound quality and compared to Sony MDR-V500/700, there is no comparison - the Technics win by a hundred miles!Comfort - Amazing!! Really cushioned headband and soft, padded ear cups give a trully comfortable feel. Yes they are heavier than some I've used, but not terribly so. I have sat through a 2 hour film and numerous 2-3 hour DJ sessions and haven't had an issue whatsoever.Price - Yes they aren't cheap.....but you get what you pay for. Whereas you pay £50 for half decent headphones, you will no doubt need to replace these regularly, whereas these are indestructible!! And with a replaceable cord, I can't see you ever needing to buy another set of 'phones for life.Looks - They look amazing. So cool. And with a platter-style to the ear-cups, they are made to give the appearance of the famous SL1210 DJ deck and they don't disappoint (Yes I know this isn't the defining factor for most, but having them look this good helps)Conclusion - If you're serious about your sound quality, build quality, and "cool factor" you will NOT be disappointed. I honestly cannot rate them highly enough. 11 out of 10!!!!

Good, but not as good as I thought.
The DH1200 is a pair of headphones made for DJs, in loud environments, not for home listening. They sound good with electronic music, but don't throw anything else at them, you will be disappointed. I have a pair of Denon cans that cost half as much and sound twice as good. However, for the enthusiast DJ/trance listener, these could be a nice investment. Sound is a bit mushy, especially with more demanding tracks. Bass is usually pretty heavy and overwhelms other sounds, but to some that might be an advantage. Build quality is very good, you can tell they're made by Technics. In the end, worth the money, if you are buying them for the right reason.

Love these headphones
I bought these to DJ with and they've never let me down. They are of rugged construction and very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. I've now had these for a good number of years, and bar the faux leather covering having peeled off the ear pads, they are amazing. I often DJ a set for between 4-6 hours , and have no complaints whatsoever! It's a false economy to buy cheap alternatives, you really do get what you pay for!

Sound quality is unacceptable for price
The Good:Smart, solid design makes a rugged companion to any DJ. Size, strap and cups are very adjustable, especially since the compact cable also allows for much leeway. The sound emphasizes the beat, making it ideal to cue/preview tracks in a noisy/clubbing environment. The Bad:Bass-emphasis is too much for normal listening and the sound is all muddy. The overall quality is seriously lacking in midrange and clarity. Very tight fitting around the head, and the cups are too small for over the ear, making them an awkward and very uncomfortable fit for any period of time.Verdict:Stay away unless you're an actively-gigging techno DJ. The sound is crap, the price is too high, and any extended wearing is physically painful.

The sound they produce is not bad but the mid-bass frequency somehow dominate the sound
The ear Pads are not deep enough to cover the ears and after long listening it feels uncomfortable. The sound they produce is not bad but the mid-bass frequency somehow dominate the sound. Also according to Technics the ear cups both flip over and turn by 90 degrees, but one-eared use is very difficult and uncomfortable...

B- rating
Comfortable and decent value but the sound quality isn't as good as its predecessor or other models out there.

Technics have pulled it off.
These headphones are the tops. Tried a few over the years, always used a reference with my old Wharfedale DD1's, bass is superb with two drive units in each housing. Technics have surpassed this frequency response with single drivers and lots lighter. It's taken 35 years to get there but these beauties are worth waiting for. Was expecting two much thinking frames were alloy, no silvered plastic, but they are lots lighter than DD1's. If you love deep accurate tight bass without losing top-end these are for you.
