Excellent for occasional use.
I needed a ladder to reach some light fittings in a room with a double height ceiling. It wasn't a difficult job but my old ladder was nowhere near long enough and getting someone in to do the 2 minute job would probably have cost as much as buying the ladder! I researched them thoroughly and based on the other reviews bought this one and am very glad I did. It worked perfectly and was easy to extend, use and close. There is a bit of flex in it, which, if you're not used to it could be disconcerting but I had total confidence in it and with my son holding the ladder in place while I went up and down it several times, it felt very safe. This ladder is absolutely fine for odd jobs around the home, it is very flexible as I probably won't use it fully extended very often and I'm pretty sure it will last a lifetime if used sensibly. My only observation would be that if you are a tradesperson who will use a ladder day in, day out, I'd strongly recommend that you go for a thicker, stronger, heavy duty ladder. If, like me, you only want to used it now and again, this is an excellent buy.I'm a Chartered Engineer who specialises in quality control of mechanical items. An easy 5 Stars.

Very good product for the price, but quality concerns
Update on 23rd Sep.Following the initial unpacking-quick try- review, this is an update after 2 hours of use:The right hand side cap on top of the ladder has popped out during retracting the ladder to pass it through a low height gate during use, this has caused the ladder to be a bit wobbly while rested on a wall, had to retract it fully to fit the cap back, which was a simple clip-on job. While I realise that this isn’t a life or death issue, it does leave me wondering about the quality of the unit, this problem was visible, if it was a standard ladder I’d just put the cap back and never think about it. Considering the nature of this ladder though, being a telescopic one I mean, I am left with concerns regarding the quality of the extension/retraction mechanism used, if anything broke inside the ladder, it won’t be safe to use it, but I won’t see it, will only probably feel the consequences of it following the failure of the ladder to do its job, which, at 5 m long, can be catastrophic!Rating fell from 4 to 2 stars now, pictures added to demonstrate the problem.-----------------------------------Original review:This is one of those few products which you would, quite literally, need to trust it with your life!First impression was a bit confusing as the packaging did not state what size the enclosed ladders were! At all! Only when you unpack the ladders and fully extend it you’d know what size you’ve got! While extending the ladders, each rung you’d extend you do hear a reassuring click to confirm that it’s safe. It did feel a bit greasy as I extended it though which makes me wonder what will happen to the grease if the ladders were used in rain, or after using it a few times? Possibly high maintenance to try and grease it again?Fully extended, and at 5 m long, there is quite a bit of flex while climbing and during operation (I suspect it would be a lot if you weigh more than me, and I’m under 9 stones!). This however is to be expected with any ladders, specially telescopic ones.Retracting is not as smooth as I was hoping, no soft closing mechanism so you WILL break your fingers if they get caught between rungs! (Please note that I’m basing my opinion regarding the closing mechanism on comparison with the Xtend+Climb ladders, I have the 3.8 m of these (They are not available in 5m), they are a bit more expensive but much more quality feel). All in all, very good product for the price (Paid £110 for it), would happily pay more for a bit of the soft closing system, also for a bit more quality as you do need to trust those things with your life!

Excellent, compact, ladder
I wanted a new ladder, as our old stepladder finally broke, but wanted something more modern - and hopefully took up less space. I found extendable ladders on here - quite a few! - and they looked just like what I was after. This one was a good price - some similar ones were more expensive - and I liked that it still came with a carry bag, despite the cheaper cost. In use, it's really simple to open / close. You just use the sliding tabs on both sides of each step to extend or retract. I was a little worried about how 'solid' the ladder would be when extended - as it's very light to carry - but it easily supports my weight (16+ stone), without any wobbles. Getting it back into the bag is nice and easy, and I like the thought that has gone into the cut out that allows you to hold the ladder through the bag which makes it easier to move it.

Great ladder for it's price. Superb service.
We've moved houses recently and our new house is basically still a building site. I've contacted the seller to provide details on how to find us, but by that time the item was already with the courier. I don't have good experience with Yodel (the courier), as my previous parcel shipped with them got lost, but this time the courier called me when struggled with finding the address. He used my tips and left the parcel at our back door.Absolute fabulous contact with the seller along the way, who even went so far as to offer to ship the item with another courier should Yodel fail to deliver. In fact this shipment restored my faith in Yodel. They've seem to have done some serious restructures in their systems (including online tracking) and staff. Well done!I've briefly tested the ladder. Looks solid and robust. It even seems that "mind your fingers" issue has been addressed with this model as it stops leaving a 5 inch gap whenever you fold the section - you can then fold it further to close the gap. The ladder might feel a bit wobbly when fully unfolded, but does the job well.Five stars for the seller, Yodel and the product!

Sturdy and easy to set up
This ladder is great as it allows me to get to the access hatch to my roof and also other high up areas of my house - as long as I rest the ladder against the wall. The ladder is easy to extend from its storage size to either fully or partially extended. The clips to release each rung of the ladder are firm not flimsy or impossible to press. When standing on the ladder it feels quite sturdy and stable. When carrying it about it has. Bit of weight to it showing that it’s pretty substantial but it’s not too heavy so it’s nice and portable. Overall I’m really pleased with this purchase.
