A value-for-money 3G dongle.
Pros:1) Can be turned into a WiFi hotspot by connecting it to a D-Link 2750U modem-cum-router. Might not be compatible with other routers, though.2) Works well even when you connect it to a 5 meter USB extension cable. I've tied the dongle to our upper floor's window grill. No issues since ~3 months.Cons:1) It doesn't catch signals as strongly as my Moto G4 Plus: -85 dBm on dongle vs -72 dBm on phone (the lower the better), when kept at the exact same location. And yes, I've tested this more than 4 times. This means the download/upload speed from the dongle is slightly less.2) It's not a 4G dongle, but then I guess those are not available in this price range (I'd purchased it for ₹700.)

... device is very powerful and signal reception is very good. Speed depends on the service provider
This device is very powerful and signal reception is very good. Speed depends on the service provider. I let gives speeds up to 3mbps in aircel, and around 2mbps in bsnl. Compared to other available devices of same price range this is priced more but the quality and support provided worth its value. Customers support is very good and help you out configure properly. Hardware is strong and durable. SD card slot should have been accessible without removing the panel. Configuration is very easy, most of the time it's auto configured. Call quality is also fine, I feel this is better than netgear and Micromax for little high cost because it's compatibility with all types types of network and customer support

Poor technical support
This 3-G Modem clearly says that it supports linux but I could not sucesfully run the linux install script that was provided by DLink. When I contacted the DLink customer service in India I got areally nonsense reply. With such technical support I doubt I will ever buy a Dlink product in future. Please see my email and response from the company below. It's very strange that after the first email I send them, where I clearly stated that I use an Ubuntu 14.04 installation, in the reply to the second email, where I gave them the Kernel version that I use, they rolled back a answer which didn't made any sense. The onliner reply from the "technical support" was : "We would like to inform you that Ubuntu/Linux is an open source operating system so you need to check with your OS support regarding the installation". What is even funny is that give this reply as a "solution".------------------------------------My first email:Hi, I have trouble to install the dlink 3G-modem (DWP-157 H/W Ver.: C1 F/WVer: V3.0.1IN) in ubuntu 14.04. I have tried according to the instructions in the readme file at the folder LinuxModemShell. But, the modem is still not recognized. There were several errors when running the second excecutable :bin/RemoveModemManager.sh. Thanks Best----------------------------------------------Response:Dear Sir,Please let us know the Linux kernel version of your Ubuntu 14.04 O/S.Should you require further assistance with your D-Link products, please reply to this message, or call toll free at 1800-233-0000.Thank you for networking with D-Link.Sincerely,D-Link Technical Support---------------------------------------My second email:Hi,Thanks for the response. The linux kernel verison I am using is : 3.13.0-68-genericOther information: #111-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 6 18:17:06 UTC 2015 x86_64x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.-------------------------------------------------------Response from DLink:Solution:We would like to inform you that Ubuntu/Linux is an open source operating system so you need to check with your OS support regarding the installation.

The warranty part is good as it offers 3 years but what good is ...
Sure it says 21 MBPS but it was connecting to 2g network and not 3g. When I put the same sim in Huawei e8221 it worked seamlessly on 3g!! Tested it a few more times and the result was same, it was not connecting to 3g in this dongle but 3g worked on rest of my devices. Another let down was that it was installing device driver software every time i plug it into my pc!! I had to wait at least 2 minutes for the drivers to install and only then i was able to start the software which took another minute and then after clicking on connect, it took a few more minutes for authentication and registering on network. So basically it is not a plug and play device but why the hell do you need to install the drivers each time? The warranty part is good as it offers 3 years but what good is warranty if i am not satisfied with the device. Also, it was an exercise to open the cover and insert the sim into the slot. Got it returned and bought Huawei e8231. Both satisfied and pissed with Amazon's return policy. The accepted the product with no questions asked but I had to mail it myself, they have promised a refund of courier charges though. Would have been better if there was pick up service in all areas, at least major cities throughout India.

Software doesn't support windows 10
Delivery was on time & the product is very good. Better than those from iBall. But its software doesn't work on Windows 10. Support for linux is not guaranteed because of policy of linux to tie driver with the kernel. It works sometime but may not work when you update your linx. But thats the problem of linux. Else all is well and good.
