Sony Ericsson W995 Energetic Red

It's not your perfect mobile phone, but why not go for something with a soul, I look at all the smart phones that are around me these days and they're nothing but pieces of fragile glass that have a screen. They're more and more popular and for what reason? Good marketing and advertisement! Anyways, back to the phone, the camera's great, the music playback is really good, battery life is terrific! It does freeze for a few seconds every so often, but that's no biggie... I paid about 100 pounds for one and that's a great price in my eyes, if it is priced over 120, then wait for it to turn up at a cheaper offering!

My w995 lasted for 6 years and even now it still works perfectly except the slide mechanism has broken( after 6yrs of being dropped/ travelling in humid countries/being attacked by my parrots and one time being driven over) hence looking for a replacement model. The make/model itself is compact, durable, reliable and surprisingly versatile with a good camera and sensible button keypad allowing me to knock out a 10 second text without needing to even look at the screen, unlike my previous pained 10 minute attempts with a touch screen phone and much cursing. In fact it does everything these new 'wonderphones' do as well as having a few extra perks..like having a lasting battery (even after 6 years, if I have no call to use it much it can last 5/6 days before needing a recharge), call time when fully charged is a few hours. When closed it fits in your pocket/bag/bra and annoyingly small holes you can't get your hand in to in order to retrieve your phone. The 8gig memory chip is enough to carry a few audio books, a few complete operas, make a few films and store a lot of memories in picture format which teams nicely with the 8.1mp camera which has put my actual digicam to shame in the past, the flash also doubles as a handy torch. The little loop/hook prop which I think is designed for holding the phone up to watch movies is superb for hanging on a hook/nail in a wall or off a cord to keep it out of harms way..or to listen to music in the shower.A few caveats of the phone, the camera lens has no protection but it only cracked after being driven over. If you're daft enough to have an alarm set at full volume and sleep with it near your head the resulting shock can be a bit unpleasant. Also if you have the little plug in speakers, turning the volume up too high can result in a tinny/reverberation noise. When hooking the phone up to the computer you're better off removing the 8gb chip and putting it in to a card reader than faffing around and it's not always the speediest of phones to charge. The phone does a lot of things that I haven't a clue about and it may not be really big enough to watch a full movie but it's a phone not a TV!
