26" Mongoose Blackcomb Mountain Bike, Black

this is the third time I took the bike out for a ride... And the right pedal completely came out.... the arm is made of cheap aluminum...the pedal itself (the male part) is steel... I was so pissed while pedaling for 30 minutes on one pedal, the other pedal came out the same way the other one did... I had to walk my bike all the way back to my car..drove my bike into town ...had the local bike shop take a look at it.... and it couldn't be fixed ....both arms needed to be replaced so I had to pay for a whole new sprocket system on the front which cost me $50 and for him to put it on was another $50... not to mention what an inconvenience this crappy bike was... being in Moab Utah... spending a ton of time there and money for the weekend and this happened...so I contacted the seller two times asking for at least $100 refund and I'll keep the bike ... Or I'll return it...but so far he hasn't answered either time.

My fork broke and the front wheel came off after 2 months. I'm 70 years old and 180 lbs. I ride only on the road and do not jump or abuse the bike. I'm still recovering from the fall. The fork is not covered under the warranty.

I did not purchase this bike off of amazon because I got better price elsewhere on the net. However, I am terribly sorry I purchased the bike at all; it is a TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP! I own 4 other mongoose, dual suspension, mountain bikes and I love them, this one one I hate. There are so many things wrong with this bike it's hard for me list them all but the biggest problem with this bike is overall design and geometry. Because there 5 suspension points (compared to 3 on the mongoose solution) there is always more lateral "loosness" in the rear suspension and wheel. The shifts are always delayed, the rear derailleur has aprox. 1" of lateral movement, gears will shift in and out of gear on their own if riding on rough surface (large gravel), the pedals ar plastic and super slippery, the drivetrain is noisy (squeeky) regardless of lubrication, one of the suspension bolts fell out on a ride (special bolt) sent email to mongoose over a year ago, they finally sent me the wrong part. The brakes work good :).

I have had this bike for a couple weeks now. I did not buy it through Amazon though. For the price I got it for it is a great value. After it arrived I put it together with no trouble. Components are decent but not top of the line. Shifts flawlessly right from the factory but I did have to adjust the front break a little because it was rubbing. Similar bike from the local shop would be at least twice the money. I can upgrade a few pieces and have a phenomenal bike for a fraction of the cost.

Have had this same bike for 18 years now! Love it to death...Great full suspension MTB! Sturdy, well built, with lots of gears for different challenges in case you don't want to walk up that steep hill! Quality shimano shifters & derailer! The only cons that are not really cons to me are the lack of dropper post & overall weight as this is more Enduro & not a light XC bike!

I have actually had this bike for a couple years. Its been on some very rough trails and taking a few beatings. No problems shifting frequently on ups and downs. Nothing has broken or needed replaced. The only drawback is the seat mount is a different size than the standard, so I had to buy seat gel foam pad cover to fit over the seat. would not take the normal seat replacement due to the different size tube it sits in.
