SentrySafe HD2100 Fireproof Safe and Waterproof Safe with Key Lock 0.37 cu ft

It works as advertised from my point of view. It holds all my essential "stuff" quite handily: passports, car titles, wills and so on.A friend had a stroke a few years back and his sister and I had a real challenge getting to his safety deposit box while he was hospitalized. She had to get an attorney involved to get access to the box. The attorney advised NOT putting wills and advance directives in a safety deposit box due to the access issues.I am trusting that should we have a fire this device will work as advertised and testified to by other owners.

Overall, I'm very happy with the product. I really like the straps which allows you to store more things in the lib portion of the chest. The lock looks a little cheap but it doesn't matter. If someone want to steal it, they can just pick it up and go. It does have some weight to it. No Handle.My main concern is the chest is fire and waterproof. We put 5 passports, important documents, cds, dvds and some other things in it.In my opinion, this is not a safe and should not be treated as such. It is a fire/waterproof chest.

Let me be clear, I have never tested this safe. My mom got me one just like it when I was in college and I have used it ever since. I wanted another for my office, and was disappointed at all the negative reviews for the tops results. So I looked up the one I had at home and voila much better reviews somehow. I only use it to protect documents, and I have never tested it, but I have confidence it will be effective if the time ever comes, which I hope it doesn't. So I guess, if nothing else, its pretty inexpensive for some piece of mind.

It seems like this will provide fire and water protection as advertised. I'm hoping I don't ever have to prove it first hand.The latch is really cheap feeling. I don't understand why Sentry uses keys with this series of security/fire chests. Anybody that wants in is in with a crowbar. I'm the only one likely to be stopped because I don't want to destroy the case to open it. I would prefer a simple ergonomic way to secure the lid instead of this cheap keyed latch. I wound up looping some fishing line around the top black facing piece with the key at the end of the fishing line so that it's easy for me to secure closed and yet not be at risk of losing the key.Don't plan on carrying this chest. Put it somewhere and don't move it. There is no handle to make it feasible to carry this chest like a briefcase. It is probably too big and heavy for most people to want to carry but it would have been nice. I have a smaller fire-only Sentry chest and it has a handle. I wish this water-safe model did as well.

Holy Crap; this thing is heavy!!! No joke! It must be lined with concrete or something similar! When it arrived, I thought it was lighter than usual. The photo is deceiving; meaning it appears light, but it is sturdy. You may need help getting this case around!But it is just as described; can't complain. Nice compartments, easy to open. No problem. I hope I never have to see if it truly is waterproof and fire-safe. :)

Would prefer a handle on this model due to its weight and size

This safe is very sturdy and heavy as other users have alluded to; the safe itself is very well built as a whole.Unfortunately, I should have believed the other reviews referring to the cheap locking mechanism. It feels out of place on the rest of this safe. I personally feel this would have been ok if the mechanism was designed better, but closing this lock requires quite a bit of force. Every time I closed it I felt like I might break the thing due to the cheap material the lock was made out of. It made having keys for this thing kind of pointless, if I wanted to I could probably have broken this lock off with my bare hands (I'm a big dude, but you get the point). This is the first item I can ever remember returning to Amazon in hundreds of purchases, so it is unusual I'm displeased with an item. I would have preferred a smaller box with a more well built and well designed locking mechanism, which is what I'm going to look for now.So, I guess my recommendation is not to buy this item. Honestly, I'm not even sure that locking mechanism would hold up in a fire (plastic melts...) and that could cause the safe to open if it falls the wrong way and reveal your contents, defeating the whole purpose of the safe, to protect your important stuff. I'm really surprised there are so many good reviews on the box as, as usual with amazon, that is why I purchased it.

This was a good purchase for me. I put a lot of jewelry and momentos in there and feel better about their safety from fire, water, and theft. Realistically, I suspect a good theif would just pick it up and take it with him, but it is fairly heavy and not the easiest to carry around. However, I bought this for the fire and water protection and feel much better about where my valuables are now.

Good safe. Perfect size to place A4 flat without bending. But absolutely needs a handle as it is quite heavy. Also plastic lock does not look and feel strong enough. To be very careful with that.

I use it to store valuables like passports and other ietms I do not want to lose in a fire. It is heavy and thick.

Solid product. My first safe. I purchased it because I moved out of my parents house and needed a safe spot to put important documents and info. It's built like a tank. Feels expansive than what I paid for it. Roomy to fit a lot of thingsI trust it 100% it will protect my items

Just received the safe today.The dimensions supplied on this page are the INTERNAL dimensions. Accordingly it does not fit in my hidden location. Back to search.While the safe feels heavy, fireproof and waterproof, it does not appear very burglarproof. The locking mechanism locks the handle which is made of plastic.My 2 cents!
