ETHOS - Fat Boy 1 Litre Giant Travel Mug

After discovering that the takeaway cardboard cups are NOT recycled as they have a plastic coating I spent ages trying to find a mug that would take the extra large size of coffee from Costa, Cafe Nero, Star bucks etc. Could only find ones that were small or medium even from the coffee shops themselves so I was really pleased to find this. Yes, slightly too big as only needed 20-24 fl Oz rather than 34 fl.oz. but does the job. Doesn't need to stay hot for hours as coffee is drank straight away.

I was initially very impressed with this item as it was delivered within the estimated time during the xmas period; it's sturdy; has a massive 1ltr capacity; fits in the car cup holders & has an effective thermos capability. When tested it kept the drink at a respectable temperature, as it had only reduced by 12℃ after 2 hours & was still hot after 4 hours!Unfortunately, after 2 days careful use the mug began leaking from the base of the lid. I contacted the seller & again was impressed with their no-quibble replacement attitude!It was delivered promptly & hasn't leaked in a similar way, but does have a small leak from the breather hole, which requires a tiny version of the main plug / stopper!The fact that it's not 100% leak-proof & (unless you're a long distance lorry driver) the capacity of a hot drink makes it a little unpractical for travel. Therefore I would recommend this as a brilliant "novelty" insulated desk / duvet-day mug, but it's not a travel mug. The customer service was excellent!

First few weeks, was really enjoying the new mug! Quick delivery. Nice presentation box, so would look good as a present! What a size!!! Lid screw thread isn't the best and leaks slightly, but was bearable! Was fine washing and drying. Then one day, let it Bob about in the soapy water while I washed some other bits and pieces from the sink. Was in the water for 3-4 minutes tops, and now has a load of dishwater rolling around between the 2 layers of the cup, rendering it unusable! Have tried everything to get the liquid out but it's not for leaving. Liquid got in between the black plastic and the metal of the case! Shame, as it was perfect for me!

Not the best seal, so if your drink is sloshing about be prepared to get wet!! Other than that, it does a great job at keeping drinks hot, and the capacity is just incredible.

a gift so cannot judge, but a replacement of one liked very much, so OK

Does what it should

Good as a gimmick but not very stable as has a very small base and easily knocked over. Doesn't seem to be dishwasher proof either and The mug internally fills up with water which can't be emptied.

On first use, the lid opened and coffee soaked a backpack full of library books. No points for being a travel mug if the lid is not secure.On second use, the handle snapped off. Constructed with screws for a brilliant weak point at the joint between handle and mug.If I could give this waste of time and cash zero stars, I would. Such a disappointment.
