Canon Pixma iP6700D printer WOW! AWESOME!
I am very in to printing photos, and I like decent quality in them. I had a Canon S900 printer, which was top of the line when I bought it a few years ago. It recently died on me, and I had to decide if it was worth getting fixed, or should I just look for another one. I started researching online and discovered the price of good photo printers has gone way down since the last one I bought. After reading reviews, I decided on this one. I have not been sorry. THIS PRINTER IS AWESOME~ For the first time, I am printing 4 x 6's directly, rather than arranging photos on an 8 x 10 sheet and printing that way. I printed out several photos that I had already had a lab print for me (Kodak) and side by side, you could not tell them apart. In fact, I think mine were actually truer colors than the lab ones. The software that comes with it is amazing, and very user friendly. I was scrapbooking and wanted some small photos, and discovered I could get 4 of them on a 4 x 6 paper that came out exactly as I'd hoped. I'm using Canon paper now instead of Kodak, and there is a difference when you use the brand of paper that goes with the printer. My old printer produced a sort of "flat" glossy, that you could immediately tell by sight and feel was not done in a lab. You cannot tell in any way that photos done on this printer weren't done in a lab. I am an amateur photographer, and I'm sure the more serious or professional photographers would want more than this, but for the home user who wants something that will really do a great job for under $150, this is it. It's very intuitive in using it, and the instruction booklet is clear enough that even I could understand it. I can't imagine a better printer for the money....or for a lot more money even. This is a keeper!

Excellent photo printer
I purchased this printer after reading many of the positive reviews here. I won't bother restating whateverybody else has said and instead post what I've found that's new. Follow these simple steps and you'll get superior quality images and user experience.1. The on board digital film reader works extremely well, though it doesn't support folders so only put a few photos on the card at a time. It can take up to 10 seconds to scroll to the next picture when dealing with large images. Also the printer can't open any file over 4 MB, nor can it open Canon RAW format.2. On the mac, the colorsync software causes clearly inferior output to what the onboard image processor is capable of. I suggest downloading your photos to your computer, do all your edits, then copy the edited photos to the memory card, and insert that into the printer. I think the printer is HIGHLY optimized for printing directly from the camera and it does a fantastic job at this.3. Only use genuine Canon paper. I get streaks on Office Depot photo paper on the high quality settings.4. Setup was very simple, but the initial setup instructions are only printed on a large red banner in the box. It's not in the normal manual, and only has a footnote in the print quality guide. Don't throw away your banner until you finish setup (requires paper to perform initial calibration too)5. Due to aspect ratio constraints of the paper, you may find it much easier to perform your Crop functions in the printer itself when doing borderless prints. The printer is very careful to maintain the proper aspect ratio at all times.

Prints look good WHEN it WILL print
I bought this printer from Amazon after reading the mostly positive reviews. I was going back and forth between Canon and Epson. I had read that the comparably priced Epson models went through a lot of expensive ink so I went with the Canon. I've owned several Canon cameras in the past and have always been satisfied with the operation and quality. This printer however has been a lemon since day one. I followed the instructions for quick set up, loaded the software and hooked up the USB cord. I think I got one print out of it and then it showed an error- U071 more than one yellow ink cartridge installed. I went to the manual and it said to make sure the cartridges were installed in the proper order, so I removed and re-installed the cartridges. No luck, same error code. I turned off the printer and turned it back on. Same error code. Remove and re-install the cartridges, turn off and on. Finally ready to print. One print later and the error code appears again. After trying to use the printer like this on several occasions and having printed maybe a total of five pages I called Canon tech support. The representative had me removed the cartridges, take out the print head, blot the bottom on a piece of paper and re-install in printer. The error code cleared and he had me run a maintenance print on the cartridges which came out looking fine. I thought that maybe it was going to work now, however after printing out one more print it went back to it's old ways. I've had it for maybe a month now and I'm tempted to ask Amazon for a replacement. Of course I've long since thrown away the box. After the hassle of trying to get this simple printer to work properly I'd definitely be hesitant to ever buy another Canon printer. If I do get this one to work or end up getting a replacement that works I may amend my review. The prints do look good when it does print.
