To help you get a great 3D experience, use our checklist below to ensure that you have everything you need. If you have any questions or want to learn more about 3D, we invite you to visit 3D 101--our center for everything 3D. To get started with 3D, please ensure that you have: A Display The first--and most important--item you'll need is a 3D-ready display--whether it be a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays usually have a higher processing power than older models as they need to display one image for each eye to create a 3D effect. A Source While your display is ready for 3D playback, you still need a device to read 3D content (i.e., a movie or a show). This source can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3. Content In order to watch 3D, you will need to get some 3D content. This 3D content will come from the source mentioned above in the form of a 3D program, movie, or game. Please ensure that your 3D movies are in the Blu-ray 3D format, as this new format will provide the best 3D experience. 3D Glasses All 3D HDTVs on the market require Active Shutter glasses to create the 3D effect. You will need to buy one pair of glasses for each viewer. Also make sure that the Active Shutter glasses you buy are compatible with your display--for example, buy the glasses from the same brand as your 3D HDTV. HDMI Cable To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a hgh-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation--with bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second)--will be able to carry the 3D signal without any loss of quality. Prior to 2010, there have been 3D DVD titles that have come to market that use anaglyph glasses, which use lenses tinted red and cyan (or other colors) which are used to combine two false-color images. The result seen by the viewer is discolored and usually lower-resolution than the new method. The principal improvement of today's 3D technology is the use of active shutter and passive eyewear which are high contrast and provide for a better higher video resolution experience. Today's 3DTVs also have technology that enables 3D images to be rendered on screen as intended by the content providers. How is 3D TV different from 3D in the theater? 3DTV is a large screen, immersive experience. Many consumers have experienced 3D feature films at 3D movie theaters. The DLP technology is the technology used in majority of 3D cinema theaters. DLP is also the technology used in Mitsubishi 3D-Ready and Mitsubishi 3D TVs. In theaters, passive polarized 3D glasses are mainly used to view 3D movies. Most present day 3DTVs utilize active shutter glasses. Does everyone watching programming on a 3D TV need to wear 3D glasses? Yes. Everyone watching programming on a 3D TV must wear 3D glasses to properly see the 3D effect. Without 3D glasses, the image on the screen will appear doubled, distorted, and unwatchable. Currently, a technology does not exist which allows a single TV to display both 2D and 3D content simultaneously without 3D glasses.

WHOA!!! Stellar 3D Experience!!!
I purchased this 3D Starter Pack as a gift for my husband because he had really wanted this to go with his Mitsubishi (WD-65638 3D-Ready DLP HDTV, but if you asked him, haha, the tv "needed" it. After all, it IS a "3-D Ready" tv and had waited a looong time, (about 3 weeks, which in man/electronics time is sort of long...;) He had this out of the box and connected in a matter of minutes, (the instructions were pretty user-friendly) with no trouble at all, and already had a 3-D movie (Captain America) in the player, ready to go. He handed me the 2nd set of glasses, and we were watching a movie in 3D in our home in well under an hour after this box arrived. All of the extras on the showcase disc were also fun to watch. My husband, my entire family, absolutely loves this, and we have picked up some other 3D titles, only we do wish that there was a wider and better selection of 3D movies to choose from, as we have looked several places for films we actually want to purchase and watch. We bought some extra 3D glasses for our children, who love being able to watch 3D movies at home. One I especially enjoy is: 3D Safari Africa [Blu-ray . We have used this our Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 3D HDTV Starter Pack extensively and have never had any issues, only needing to replace batteries once.We have had consistent, stellar results with this and I couldn't imagine 3D getting any better. If it did I'd probably be a nervous wreck as I found myself instinctively moving back during portions of different films, it is THAT GOOD. If you have one of the 3D-Ready televisions that are compatible with this product, and are ready to enjoy some fantastic 3D viewing pleasure, I absolutely recommend this Starter Kit.OF SPECIAL NOTE TO THOSE WITH WEAK EYE MUSCLES AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO "SEE" MUCH 3D WITH OLD FASHIONED RED AND BLUE GLASSES:Prior to all of this, I really didn't think that I would be able to have the 3D experience due to a congenital muscle weakness in both of my eyes, which don't "sync" quite right with the old-timey 3D movies using the red and blue lensed glasses, and I was never able to truly experience 3D for a whole movie, just bits and parts. However, I was BLOWN AWAY, being able to experience full, crisp 3D movie watching pleasure all the way through with no issues with my *eyes*-(see note at bottom)* THE ENTIRE TIME, they cooperated fully with this new 3D AMAZING technology!*my eyes do feel tired and kind of achey for about 30 minutes to an hour after watching an entire movie, but then are fine again.

Get 3D now!!
After 1 1/2 months of waiting Amazon finnaly delivered the Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 3D HDTV Starter Pack. It was really easy to install, took only 15 minutes. The thing that took awhile to set up was my PS3. You have to go into setup in display to emable 3D before anything will work. After getting everthing setup (Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 3D HDTV Starter Pack, Mitsubishi 60737 tv and PS3) it was time to see how it worked. The 3D game demos on the playstation network were really good, everything looked like it was jumping off the screen. The Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 3D HDTV Starter Pack came with a demo bluray, but I couldn't use it since the PS3 won't be able to play bluray dvd's until the next software update in the fall. The only downside to the 3D experience it how dark it gets when you enable 3D within the Mitsubishi TV. It not that a big deal with games, but movies with night sceens might be a different issue. Hopefully Mitsubishi will have a fix for this in the future. All in all this is a great buy for anyone who wants to get into 3D viewing and gamming.Update:Just hooked up my Comcast box and my PS3 to the Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 via a HDMI splitter that I also reviewed a couple years ago. It is not HDMI 1.4, but it works. Playing games, watching movies and shows in 3D is really amazing, also bought 2 extra pair of glasses. Called Mitsubishi and confirmed from them that the glasses to buy for the Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 3D HDTV Starter Pack is the Samsung SSG-2100AB 3D Glasses. The best part is watching the ESPN 3D sports channel, it is sooooo great!!! college football in 3D is amazing!! I can't wait for the NFL to start brodcasting in 3D. Can you say CONCUSION!!!

Hated to have to spend another $265.00 for 3D, but well worth it.
I've been shopping for months for this item, and haven't found it any cheaper than here. I'm using the 3D kit on a 73" Mitsubishi and it's really awesome. I'm glad I finally bit the bullet and purchased this. I'm not a big fan on buying pricey HDMI cables, but I purchased a High Speed HDMI cable to go from my Blu-ray to the 3D box. I really think it gave me better quality pictures for 3D and NetFlix vs. having a standard HDMI cable. This kit comes with one nice HDMI cable, but this cable goes from the 3D box to the TV. So be sure and pick up another HDMI cable before you receive this. Everything was easy to set up and comes with nice pictured instructions. Note: (You must have your Blu-ray hooked up to the 3D box before it'll power on) I had to call Mitsubishi to find this out. I was trying to get it to power on prior to hooking mine up, and it wouldn't come on. I've always been a big fan of 3D and we always had to drive 2 hours to see a 3D or a Imax film. I will not say it's as good as in the movie theater, but you defiantly get the 3D affect in your home and it's well worth the money.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
First, Let me say this MITSUBISHI destroyed the competition when it came to making 3D Technology. I have the 73" 73C69 DLP and I finally made the purchase and bought the 3D Starter Kit and all I can say is WOW! graphics, depth, quality etc. you name it. EVERYTHING is amazing. I have watched other movies in 3D on different brand name TV's and none of them come even close to MITSUBISHI DLP 3D Installation took nothing but 5 minutes so if your thinking about buying this 3D starter kit for your TV. TRUST and believe the rest of the reviewers here you will not be disappointed.Only cons I can give is on some model TVs example mine was a DLP 73" Model: 73C9 it said I needed to have software version 012.06 minimum in the documentation in order for me to be able to watch 3D. My current software version is 011.03 and I didn't even upgrade it as it says on their tech support website for Mitsubishi and my 3D works perfectly fine. Someone needs to rewrite that documentation because it doesn't apply for 73C9 models. I also called customer service and who are very nice and helpful and they verified that I did not need the software 011.03 was good.
