Better than most
I've had these headphones for over two years now and I must say they have stood up against time very well. At first they feel quite flimsy but I've fallen asleep with them on many times and the only thing that happens is the right can pops off, but it can easily be snapped back in. Sound quality is fair, I do get a low level of static even when close (3-5 feet) to the base. Range is not even close to advertised, I'd guess mine get about 20-25 feet in my home, with walls being a very important part of the equation. They are pretty comfortable, extremely lightweight and get very loud for their size. Bass is lacking though, and as one reviewer mentioned, they are "open" headphones which means other people nearby can hear them even when listening at a low volume. The one gripe I have about these headphones is that they do not sit on the base very well, perhaps due to how long I've had them, but they sometimes won't charge on the base because the contacts slip off. I bought an extra battery (which I highly recommend if you forget to charge the unit, like me) to charge in the back of the base, which is a nice feature.

Good design, decent sound quality, static, no isolation
I bought these to be able to watch tv while my girlfriend is studying by my side. Connection is easy as 1-2-3. Immediately picked up the sound channel and produced nice sound. If you are into serious sound, then you should forget about wireless in the first place. You can wander around between the rooms and still have the reception. The thing i didn't like was this "900 MHz" technology. Just like in cordless phones there is interference and occasional noise. Funny thing - regular TV broadcast gave less noise then watching "Run Lola Run" on DVD. Go figure...Yes, one more thing: sitting next to me on the couch my girlfriend said that she could hear sound coming pretty clear out of external earphone covers and kept asking me to turn it down. Even she was surprised when she found out that the volume level was pretty low. I'm thinking of returning them.Good design, decent sound quality, static and no sound shield.

Mediocre performance
Comparing these to my previous no-name wireless set (Radio Shack / Optimus) I find that they perform only a bit better and sometimes worse. Drop-outs are frequent as you move about the house. I have no other active 900MHz sources in the house either. On the good side, they are lightweight and the charging system (simply place them on the transmitter for re-charging) is very good. Although you wonder why the design is such that the charging prongs are on the left side of the base when the headphone unit has its on the right; meaning you can't simply take them off and place them directly on charge. Sound quality when locked-in and operating is better than my old wireless unit with less hiss.

Go for the RS 110 or RS 120
I have several RS 4 & RS 40/45 headphones.I recently purchased 2 RS 110 headphones to replace the RS 40/45.Don't bother with the older models. The RS 110 or the RS 120 is much improved.Longer range, better sound quality, better mechanical engineering, improved transmitter/receiver. The RS 110/120 uses 2xAAA alkaline or rechargeable batteries, so you can replace them when they wear out.(Don't use alkaline in the RS 120 because you may forget and put the headphones on the charging stand and cause the batteries to rupture.)

Good Sound and Comfortable
Worth the money. A slight bit of static, but only noticable (slightly) when there is complete silence in the music or movie you're watching). Not too bad - nothing to get upset about...:)

Auto-tuning is great!
I had owned a pair of Sennheiser wireless headphones for about 2.5 years when they started dying - at low volume only. I bought the RS-45 headphones to replace them (at half the price of what I originally paid) and these are a significant improvement. I charged the batteries for 24 hours and then plugged them into my stereo. When I turned on the headphones they were perfectly tuned. I would have to regularly adjust the tuning a wee bit on the old pair, but not so with the RS-45. I use these almost exclusively for watching TV through the AV receiver and so far they've been flawless.

Wireless can't be perfect
I bought this product to be able to watch tv without disturbing my wife who doesn't like background noise when she's reading. For that purpose the Sennheiser RS-45 is great. I can sit wherever and move freely without being constrained by a cord. But don't expect too much. If you move around, there will be few disturbances in reception, just as there would be if you are moving around with a portable radio. Next room the reception is not too great, so you can forget about going to the basement with the headphones if the transmitter is somewhere else.In short: if you're looking for perfect sound quality, get regular headphones with a cord. If it's more important for you that you can move around a bit, the Sennheiser RS-45 is a good option.
