G37 G35 Cold Air Intake Injen SP1998P

This is my second intake from Injen. I liked the first one I had on an IS250 so much that I bought a second one for the G37S. Performance wise, I can say I feel a slightly stronger pull at higher RPMs. Installation with a buddy took about an hour, instructions were clear and all the hardware was there. I did end up with two extra washers that came in the kit but we couldn't figure out where they went, they weren't mentioned in the instruction sheet.Sound is raspier and louder, which is very different that the intake I had on the IS. That intake produced a much deeper tone than the stock. This sound is definitely an improvement from stock, however I was surprised at how different the sound was,considering they are both from Injen.The intake on the IS was a single tube connected to the conical filter. This intake is two short fittings connected to the cones. I was surprised that I had to keep most of my stock intake. It seems the only thing that this intake replaces is the stock air box. I would have preferred that it replaced the whole intake assembly, as it did in my old IS. I feel it would be more efficient.The only other concern I have with this intake is that once assembled, the rubber clamp connected to the aluminum tube feels like it can slip out. In fact, the more I tighten it, the likelier it is that it slips out. You can't really tighten it fully otherwise it slips out. I feel like I have to keep checking every once in a while to make sure everything is still connected.Other than that, I am pleased with this intake and as soon as I installed it I took the car for a performance drive up to a nearby canyon. Very impressive sound and performance. Like I said, it's a different sound than my previous intake but at about 5500 RPM this thing really roars. It just takes a really getting used to. Expect your mpgs to decrease, especially since as your often going to find yourself wanting to mash it. It really opens up after 4500 RPM. The heat shield, although I doubt is very effective, certainly adds a clever touch, and I'm sure it doesn't hurt. Would rate it five stars were it not for the uneasy connection and my preference for a deeper tone.

My g37 sedan idles smoother and seems more responsive (seat of pants dyno). Install was professionally done and took little time to intall. Product is CARB legal for CA. I'm very satisfied with the results.
