I have the more expensive stove and this one.
Differences are the more expensive stove is one piece with a top to hold the pot above. The more expensive one has wires to hold the fire up while this one has a pan with diamond shaped holes. This stove also fits inside itself making it more compact. Both come with storage bags to contain the soot.Performance. They both work great. Lots of heat from sticks that are easy to find. Both of them are difficult to light without fire starter because the fire chamber is so low inside. (I lay the expensive stove on it's side to light and this one can be partially assembled to light then assembled)Negatives of the this stove over the expensive stove. The holes in the fire pan allow ash to collect and block the air flow. However, a long stick to stir the fire and the build up was gone. This stove drops ashes to the ground so you have to have this on a fire safe surface. The expensive stove keeps the ashes inside until you pour them out.

Liked it, would buy again
Worked well, but kinda small. Using random dry twigs it was slow to boil a liter of water at 10F with a wind. With a lid, boil time was about 20 minutes. It did burn clean when loaded with extra dry wood or when run hot, after it cooled there was minimal deposit on the stove. The pot did have soot deposits. The grate at the bottom that held the coals would occasionally get clogged, just stir and poke with a stick. I am new to this type of camping stove. It would probably be best suited for solo use in the summer. this review was based on two separate uses, the second time it was used for about an hour. I would buy it again.

Works great and the stove and its storage bag fits perfectly ...
Works great and the stove and its storage bag fits perfectly in a Solo Stove Pot 1800. The stainless steel isn't the greatest as I think the bottom grate of the burn chamber has rust spots and the pot stand is meh. Ok for large pot and pans, the Solo pot mentioned sits half way up the legs in the teeth zone but is stable when it if filled with water. Tends to want to tip because of the rounded corners of the bottom. Smaller pots and cups will not fit. Which has been a known problem with the earlier versions of more expensive stoves, Wild stove and Silver fire scout. These have been redesigned to allow use of small pots. It you have a Evernew Titanium Alcohol Stove cross pot stand, you can mod the fire ring/pot stand to accept the evernew and cook with small pots. This will put the pot a little lower than the built in pot stand but it doesn't seem to effect the function of the stove.Word of advise though, this stove does NOT like wind. Wind is bad for this stove. Air flow is generated by the heat of the double wall of the stove body and wind can actually blow out the flame resulting in you trying to cook on a smoke machine.

It's a good feeling when I make a less expensive item choice ...
finished a 2 night / 2,5 day trip where this was the primary cooking tool.Pros : Seems very durable. After many hours of burning i don't see any signs of warping, damage etc. weight is very good considering it's not titanium and not too thin excellent for roasting (bring lightweight skewers) burns small wood extremely efficiently. small sticks and twigs are always in abundance and perfect to fuel this. without question, price. i haven't found anything of this quality that can match priceCons : After using this heavily I can definitely see the advantage of having a side loading area available on some other designs (more expensive box types) Also, no way to feed it from the bottomOverall : Since this is top only feeding it can be frustrating if trying to boil a pot of water as to feed the system, the pot needs to be lifted off, fed, possibly blown a few times to enrich the flame and put back down. It's not a huge deal but definitely lengthens the boil process. A few times we just skewered meat / veggies and roasted them over the flame. For this it's perfect because have easy access to the top and easier / more efficient than starting a campfire. Also adds nice amount of heat to warm up hands / feet too.for the $$ definitely a 5 star product.

Basically a good stove, but the opening where the pot sits could be smaller. Instead of 31/8th inches .2> 2&half inches would be good. Boiles 3 cups of water in 15 minutes but the soot is too much with the opening it has now.

Easy set up, produces hot flame, little smoke.
I used this little jewel to show my grand kids how to cook with out using the microwave. They really enjoyed learning new skills. I used this little stove with small tree sticks that had fallen to the ground. Kids picked them up. It was easy to start the fire using cotton/alcohol under a few small twigs. We boiled water and hard boiled some eggs. After allowing the stove to cool, we figured out how to collapse it back into its carry case.Surprising amount of heat. Must keep feeding twigs or other fuel but what else is new?
