Attractive and perfectly fitting hitch for 2011 CX-9
Perfect fit, took 45 minutes to install on my 2011 CX-9 by myself. This time included jacking it up, removing the spare, putting it back, and jacking it back down. Actual install time about 20 minutes. Once jacked up I laid down, lifted it into place, and set the bolts. Because of the mufflers and heat shields, it has to be lined up vertically (hitch opening pointing down, and rotated into position as it's lifted up. This is why you HAVE TO jack up the car, there isn't enough clearance to do this otherwise. Watch the heat shields, the edges are very sharp. It was a nice tight fit for me, so once it was in place I was able to take one hand off and thread the bolts in. Once I had one bolt in each side, I knew it wasn't going to drop on me. As with anything with multiple bolts, thread each one in only about 1/3. This gives you some wiggle room to make sure they all line up. I used a rubber mallet to adjust it a little to get them all in. Once all are in, tighten finger tight and use a box wrench to torque them down. I used 3/4" and 1/2" wrenches. I didn't bother with a socket wrench. It isn't obvious in the picture, but the crossbar is not square, but flatter, helping it keep a lower profile. It hides very nicely under the bumper, only about 1/3 of the center section extends below. As others have mentioned, packaging was worthless, but this was Curt, not Amazon. It arrived in a Curt retail box which was too thin and the hitch was loose in the box. OK for buying it in a store, but not OK for shipping. It broke through the box, but powder coat was not damaged, so I let it be.

Perfect Fit / Excellent Hitch
This CURT 13575 Class 3 Trailer Hitch was easy to install and the bolt holes matched perfectly with the manufactures threads on the Mazda CX-9 body. It appears to be of very good quality and very sturdy - It looks like a factory hitch with only the bar around the hitch receiver showing. The rest of the hitch is tucked up under the rear bumper cover making is look like a factory install. I'd recommend this hitch to anyone.

Looks great
Fits perfectly on my 2013 Mazda CX9 and all hardware is included. I know there are other reviews about the installation, but I wanted to share my experience since it's still fresh in my mind. I installed this hitch yesterday by myself. I used a floor jack to lift the hitch into place and to support it, although it does not goes straight up unless you remove two heat shields located on each side of the SUV. I didn't remove the heat shield, so I had to insert one side of the hitch first and then play around until I got the second corner to go up. Did lower the spared tire enough to make room for installation, but did not remove it all the way out...it may be easier if the spare is removed though. Took me less than half an hour and that's including applying some anti corrosion paint to the hardware just in case.Anyway, the installation was not difficult at all and once installed, the hitch is almost totally hidden. My SUV is a 2013 Mazda CX9 with only 24K miles, so it looks pretty much new. I didn't want an ugly hitch sticking out from the rear. This hitch looks professionally made and looks great once installed. I recommend it.

Looks like it'll last - sturdy and nicely coated
I would give this a 4.5 star if I could. Looks great and functions well.Install was easy without anything removed (heatshield, spare tire) along with two people. It arrived 2 days before vacation. Was able to use it with a CURT cargo hitch with no issues.Only problem is on one side, one of the big bolt wouldn't line up with the hole on the CX-9. On the other side, one of the small bold didn't line up with the hole of my CX-9. both were at a slight angle so I can't put in the bolts. I'll probably try to remove and attempt the install again but I think not having a bolt on each side won't hurt (don't recommended you doing that) but I'm not towing anything and it looks very strudy/strong without it.

Perfect Fit - Solid piece of equipment from Curt
This is a perfect fit for my Mazda CX-9. Very sturdy construction, it's a really well made piece of equipment. The hitch was painted well and it had a good finish - no scratches to report (not that it matters, it's under the car).I installed this in 30-40 minutes with the help of a friend. You definitely need two people for this job : One to hold it up while the other puts the bolts into place. In addition to the socket wrench, you will also need a rubber mallet to bang this gently thing into place. I did not remove anything (Heat shields, etc.) or loosen the spare tire either, you just have to angle it up and knock it into place. Yes - this will nudge up against the heat shields when you install it, not a big deal at all.The hitch is tucked up right below the bottom of the bumper and it does not hang down at all. This class III hitch will definitely handle my bike rack and a trailer if I need to. Great investment for my ride - Highly recommend for anyone who is considering adding this.

High quality, perfect fit, no cutting required.
Receiver is nicely constructed, and included fasteners are high quality.I installed this myself on my 2013 Mazda CX-9 in about two hours working slowly.I found that the spare tire had to be removed prior to installing the receiver (providing a good opportunity to check the tire pressure). As stated in some other reviews, the car did not need to be raised off the ground, but the receiver should placed beneath the rear of the car and then rotated 90 degrees, so that the receiver opening faces straight down, and the top of the receiver faces rearward. This will allow the receiver to be raised into position behind and above the exhaust heat shields.Once the receiver mounting brackets are clear of the heat shields, rotate the receiver back to a level position and install the bolts. The spare tire will have to be maneuvered past the hitch receiver during reinstallation, but once in position there is no interference.I found that the Curt hitch receiver fit my 2013 CX-9 perfectly, was relatively simple to install using basic tools, and required no cutting of the rear bumper cover.Very happy with this purchase.

Great hitch!
Well built, heavy and solid. Fit like a glove, it was tight on one side, drop the spare tire to make more room.

Fits my car, no modification necessary
Mounted this on my 2014 Mazda CX-9Fits perfectly, remember to clean out threads on cars frame before fitting it as road dirt collects in the threads, I used some degreaser and a brush

It did not fit
I was sold this for my Mazda cx9 2018 year model from web page. When I took it to the mechanic to have it installed, he told me that it would not fit. It was for other car. Not happy.
