Emily's Everyday Manners

I like the idea of this book, and most of it is fine, however, there is one part where Emily’s aunt is hugging her when Emily doesn’t want to be hugged and it says it’s polite to not say anything. While this may be true for adults, I think it makes it confusing for young children who (in my opinion) need to be able to say no to being hugged/kiss/touched when they don’t want to be. It’s basic safety. I wish that the topic had just been omitted or that Emily said “I prefer a high-five or a hand shake to say hello”, I understand it’s not as polite as just taking the hug, but it’s a compromise I’m willing to make to ensure my daughter knows she has the right to not be touched when she doesn’t want to be.

I bought this because my roommate’s daughter needs to learn more about manners. We love it.

The content was good but the book was obviously used, the corners bent and the back cover had something gross on it....

Great book for my preschoolers nice examples they can relate to.

This book goes over the basics of manners for children. Easy read.
