Artemis 133042 Fresh Mix Small Breed Adult Food, 15-Pound

My dog is a picky eater. Unlike most dogs, who will grab something you dropped from the kitchen counter while cooking or offer from your hand; my dog -- very slowly -- stretches her neck out to get her nose close enough to the morsel to sniff it completely -- before deciding whether or not she'll eat it. She did the same with the Artemis the first few times I put it into her bowl, but she didn't let it sit there for three days before she ate it. This told me something about the product!But the most important thing about Artemis is that it was recommended by veterinarians because my dog has severe skin allergies associated with Candida (yeast), which is fed by simple carbohydrates that turn to sugar through metabolism. Artemis has a higher percentage of protein and the carbohydrates it contains are complex so less sugar is generated through metabolism and therefore, Candida is eventually starved. In combination with a product line called Nzymes (Google it), my Penny was completely free of any open (bleeding) sores after the first six weeks on Artemis. Since the open sores healed, she has gradually regrown fur over those areas where I thought the follicles were likely damaged by all her scratching, biting and licking. The scabbing is almost resolved now in the fourth month. Here eyes are clear and no longer produce that goo. She continues to scratch and bite certain areas, but even that has been reduced by at least 75%. My vet says that some scratching in animals is done out of habit and even for "exercise" (though I can't imagine getting much benefit from scratching for exercise!)I want to clarify that Artemis isn't the only reason for this magnificent resolution of my dog's miserable condition. The folks from Nzymes not only sell their products, they service them. I spent over an hour on the phone with one of their reps back in February asking questions and clarifying how to use their healthy skin line that I purchased. Getting Penny better took determined effort. I not only had to change to a higher quality food (I had already been feeding a premium dog food), and began to add four products to her food at each meal in a scheduled succession; but it also involved twice weekly bathing with one of five or six recommended shampoos and nursing those sores. It was explained to me that food isn't the only reason for this skin problem (it's about 25% of it), but if you're feeding the Candida, you'll never get rid of it. So clearing up the problem does start with the food. And of course, if your dog won't eat it, then you've gotten nowhere. That's why Artemis gets 5 stars from me!

My dog has been eaten this since he was a puppy. Great formula for a dry food. While I've tried a bunch this one seems to be the best for him.

dogs love the food, but the price was extravagant. Got the next bag for same price from another retailer with 28lbs of food and free shipping. Shop around, not the best deal out there.
