They all worked well for me as they have good arch and heel support
It doesn't fit well, a bit tight, and has very little arch support. I have been wearing Asics Exalt running shoes for the past several years beginning with Exalt then Exalt 2 and Exalt 3. They all worked well for me as they have good arch and heel support. I'm flat footed and suffer from Plantar Fasciitis and need good arch support. Exalt 4 is not the same as the other Exalt models. Has a soft sole with little arch support. Need to find another pair of Exalt 3.

Poor design has a spot digging into your foot
I have always loved Asics. All I've worn since I was about 13. This is the first of probably 30 pairs I've owned that isn't always comfortable. The left shoe has a spot on the left side that digs into my foot by the little toe. It's from the plastic aesthetic pieces on the sides of the shoe I think. leaves a raw spot on the foot. I thought they might just need to be worn in, but it's been about a month and I wear them a lot.

Not worth the money
I have been a loyal Exalt customer for over 15 years. By the time I need a new pair, the next generation of Exalts are out. The Exalt 2 and 3 were total winners...a joy to run in. The Exalt 4, unfortunately, does not come close in comfort that the Exalt 2 and 3 had. I have put roughly 50 miles on this pair and they are still uncomfortable. They are stiff and lack flexibility. And worse of all, somebody had the bright idea of placing METAL grommets in the upper lace holes that now dig into your ankle when snugging these tight. Does anyone even try out these "great" ideas? I have NEVER, in 45 years of running, broken a lace hole...totally unnecessary. And of course the liner, as usual, is totally worthless, providing little to no cushion. May be time to give up on Asics.

Very Snug
This is the third pair of ASICs I have purchased from Amazon. I believe the other two are size 11M, but not positive. The last pair was GEL-Contend 4 and will be 1 year old on the 22nd of May this year. I wear normally a size 11A-B or 10 1/2 B or Medium. I don't feel my feet have changed much as I'm 70 years old, but I could be wrong. These shoes just seem to be very snug. I would probably try size 11W next time just to have more room. My problem on the last two pairs have been my big toe on my left foot wearing out the mesh at the toenail. Other than that, they look brand new!!

But all the fluffy language describing it to have great arch and ankle support is a complete lie
Stay away from this shoe if you are looking for support. The style is as expected. But all the fluffy language describing it to have great arch and ankle support is a complete lie. This is the worst shoe for support. Its flat with no support whatsoever.I'm very disappointed as i have always purchased ASICS

Awful
I run 30 miles / week on average and have tried about a dozen running shoes in recent years. Some of my favorite shoes ever were the ASICS Men's Gel-Exalt 3. Since those aren't made anymore, I figured these ASICS Men's Gel-Exalt 4's would be a no-brainer. These are easily the worst running shoes I've ever worn. Both shoes make my feet ache, but my right shoe feels too narrow, and there is a piece of the shoe digging into the outside of my foot. There is a structural or aesthetic piece of material that is responsible for the digging. I tried breaking these in, but after a couple of wears, I'm not convinced that any additional mileage is going to help, and I've never had to endure this kind of pain to break in new shoes before.

Finally fits as expected!
Finally - after ordering 2 other pairs of ASICS from Amazon the exact same size of my other 4 pairs I got one that fit! This model is not the GT style that I am used to, but still provides a decent amount of stability. The look is good and the cushioning is nice.Good for walking or casual wear, but I would not recommend for running if you have low arches.

but they were wide in the mid and forefoot which caused more movement then I would like in a shoe
Understanding every foot is a little different, I purchased these for a stability shoe and the price point, normally always running in a Nike Lunar Glide or Stelos that are a cushion level 4. Never tried the Asics brand before but certainly know they are a reputable brand. These shoes were light and a little less cushion which I knew, but they were wide in the mid and forefoot which caused more movement then I would like in a shoe. This caused some rubbing on my foot that I don't get with the Nike's. I returned the shoes based on that they just didn't fit me well not that the shoe was inferior in any way.

Love the bounce in the heel!
This is the second pair of ASICS that I have bought, this pair because I like the first. I needed shoes with a good cushion and bounce in the heel to counteract an Achilles problem. These have done the job.
