Magnum Men's Viper Low Duty Shoe

I still wear these shoes every day. Two years ago I would have given these shoes 4 stars, but they've lasted far far better than any other pair I've owned; I was going through a pair of shoes every 8 months before I bought these. The tread on the heel has now almost worn flat but a bit of it is still there. I also haven't done any maintenance on them other than replacing a couple pairs of laces. They're scuffed pretty bad where I scuffed it pretty bad, but otherwise, in spite of no polishing, the rest of the shoe still has a dull shine. Honestly I could still see myself wearing them through another winter without issue, but after that I think the tread will be gone far enough to necessitate a replacement. I'll probably replace them with another pair of these.The biggest surprise when I first got these shoes was how much arch support there is. I'm pretty flat footed so I found it uncomfortable, but only until I added gel insoles. They're a bit on the heavy side, more comparable to boots than sneakers, which I found a benefit for the hours I spend each day driving. The toes also flex pretty well so when I need to run the shoes don't get in my way. All around it's a great shoe with amazing longevity and a professional look.

This is an awesome pair of shoes for me for a couple of reasons. First let me state I am on my 5th pair in the last 9 years. I get about a year and a half or two out of a pair. I walk 1 - 2 miles, everyday, Monday - Friday. The soles are great. They are very slip resistant. So, they work well on vinyl tile, stone composite and marble floors. They also stand up to concrete sidewalks for that 1.5 - 2.0 years I mentioned. Only drawbacks are 1. They come with laces that will wear out in 6 months. I replace them with black boot laces. 2. The cushion at the back of the shoe will wear slightly faster than the soles of the shoe. Thick socks solve that problem. 3. Use a leather conditioner or wax based polish. Do not use a liquid polish. That will crack the surface of the leather.

This is my fourth pair of Magnum Vipers. The first pair held up very well with daily wear for nearly two years. My work consisted of a lot of walking and yard work. However, the next three pairs had issues with sole separation starting at the toe. I only got about 6 months out of them before the separation started. I like these shoes for their comfort and they allow me to do what I need to do with no problem. They are also the only shoes that I have found that support my corrective orthotics, so I will continue to purchase them, although I am disappointed with the amount of wear I get out of them. This last pair I have still look nice, but the left sole has almost completely separated from the upper. I would have it fixed, but I have no other shoes to wear, so I "goo glue" it myself. The separation includes both coming unsewn, and unglued. When it first happened with my second pair of Magnums, I thought it was a freak thing since my first pair held up so well. But when the next two pair also came apart, I decided the first pair must have been the freak thing. I see other people have had the same issue. I wish Magnum would address it.

These are great shoes. I work in a IT environment. Up on my feet all day, walking around in a building in and out of two others. I had my first pair of Magnums, 8 years ago. They fit well, lasted 10 months, on a 9-5 job. there was with the occasional weekend event, when you had to be somewhat dressy, but wanted to be comfortable. These fit the bill. Feel like a sneaker, but wear like a dress shoe. They shine up like my former combat boots, and look good for the day. I have not seen these being sold in stores in NY, for a few years. So, seeing them on sale on Amazon, was a no brainer. I probably will get a 2nd pair soon.

4.5 stars. *if you're between two sizes, go with the larger size!* I was between 11 & 11.5; regret not going with 11.5. However I think I can still make it work. Wore them around the house the day I got them, then rolled up a bunch of socks to stuff them to stretch them out a little bit. Think I'll be fine. Other than that, I like the fact that they probably have an inch or maybe even two heel, so being taller, you will give off a more demanding presence.*UPDATE* After stretching them out, the 11 seems to be fine for me.

Just hit the 6 month mark on wearing these everyday and I have to say, I'm impressed. There's definitely a little wear and tear on the top and sides but it's still as comfortable since day one. The only issue I've had has been on the inside where the back of the heel sits against. There's a piece of material that has sagged down and every once in awhile will rub against my heel. I have to spend about 5 mins maneuvering the material back into place, which will hold for months before bothering me again. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and will likely order another when these finally give out.

This is the 3rd pair I am buying. They fit me perfect right out of the box. My heels are hard on shoes. They like to wear out the back of shoes quickly. My past two pairs lasted me each about a year. Then the inside back started to wear and tear. The rest of the shoe held up great. I wear these 40 hours a week for work and love the comfort factor. Last two pairs never had a squeaking issue. Hope this new pair coming does not either. A great work shoe for standing and walking around a lot.

Product is not good.too expensive

First time I buy Mag shoes - I've worn the boots for many years. This is the best of both worlds - quality and fit I've come to expect from Magnum and the light footwear I so need during the cooler months. the perfect work shoe. I am an IT tech who is always on his feet. I'm certain I've ended up selling several pairs of these since clients often ask me about them. Terrific product.

The grip is decent, and it looks the part, but the shoe feels very shallow. it doesn't come anywhere close to my ankle and it can take some getting used to
