Only issue is the max slice thickness. Amazon said it was a little over 1/2 inch slice thickness. But, in reality, the max thickness is somewhere between 1/16-1/8 inch... quite a big difference.At 7.5k, we hoped the machine would be advertised properly.Other than only being able to use it for only half the cooking projects we expected to use it for, there are positives:Handsome machineEasy to useRequires no electricityNot made in China (Made in Italy)Mostly metal materials... especially where it counts (I can see it lasting decades if we treat it well)Definitely takes time to clean (which is expected), so we do "bulk" slicing.

I am very happy with the unit, the shipping, and the entire experience, which exceeded my expectations.I was a little apprehensive as the price tag is substantial but all my concerns went away when I got the unit. The shipping was impeccable. The unit was perfectly packed and protected. Berkel called me to verify address and details prior to shipping. The carrier called me the day before to schedule and twice the day of delivery.The Berkel machine is superb in performance and ease of use. It is also a beautiful piece, like a red Ferrari on my counter.

While some might look at the price and say, "Absolutely not. I'll just spend $100 on a lesser model that has 99% of the function." I say nay. NAY! My meat will only be sliced by metal that has been lovingly caressed by Italians!But... the unit is the cost of a late model used sedan some might say. WRONG! The machine WAS the price of a used sedan. Now, it's the price of week's groceries.Great machine. Would buy again for sure. Might by two more: one for my garage and one for the nursery.
