Biopic starring James Corden as 'Britain's Got Talent' winner Paul Potts. The film charts Potts' rise to fame, from his humble beginnings as a timid shop assistant to an internationally-renowned opera singer thanks to his success on the 2007 British talent show. Following a string of failed chances, dismissals from his idol Pavarotti and unforeseeable accidents, Paul's determination and talent enabled him to battle through against the odds and achieve his lifelong dream.

Very moving and beautiful
I knew nothing about Paul Potts, nor the TV show, but needed to use up an Amazon video credit before it expired. We wanted to watch something uplifting and, to our surprise, this fitted the bill perfectly. A charming and moving story, with good and caring people eventually winning through. Lighthearted at times, downright funny at others, extremely watchable and satisfying.

and I thought this was a pretty accurate account of the salient features of Potts's rise ...
For some reason they've set this movie in Port Talbot, South Wales, so I couldn't understand why James Corden seemed to be attempting an incongruous Bristol accent. In fact Paul Potts was born in Bristol, went to school there and even served as a LibDem councillor there for several years which wasn't mentioned in the film, nor the fact that he graduated from a college in Plymouth. Still, biopics always take liberties I suppose, and I thought this was a pretty accurate account of the salient features of Potts's rise to fame and I enjoyed it very much. It was a shame we didn't get the full Nessum Dorma.

A real feel good film, I loved it.
This film had it all, humour, sadness, it was uplifting and the acting was terrific. We all know how it ended but it was a joy seeing how Paul Potts persevered and saw his dream come through against all odds. If you want a feel good film then this is it.

One chance... lovely film
What a great film, not what I expected... I was riveted from start to finish. Seemed to be a true to life story about Paul, with his schooldays and early life, then given a once in a lifetime break that certainly paid off for him.
