It works as advertised
I bought the Collar ID Disc to complement the ID chip that my cat has implanted in him, in order to help teach him how to use his new cat door. It was hard to push him through the cat door, so I held the ID Disc in my hand to demonstrate how the cat door works. I also programmed the cat door to work with both the ID Disc and the implanted chip. (The vet would not sell or even loan me an implantable ID chip for this purpose.). The end result is that the cat is able and willing to go through the door in one direction but not the other. He’s still working on learning how to use the door in both directions. The Electronic Collar ID Disc works fine.

It does work with the MiBowl feeder
I had asked the question if it would work with the MiBowl feeder, got one "no" and one "used for door" so I didn't think it would work. I'm very happy to tell you all that it does work, I've only had it for a day but so far so good.

Works
it's fairly large but my cats don't seem to mind. this is just the tag and i like how easy it is to connect to my device.

Frugal Shoppers Favorite
I didn't like the idea of having my cats chipped at all. I thought causing them unnecessary pain was cruel so I bought fobs when I bought their cat door. They have since lost their collars, forcing me to buy new fobs: This was expected. This fobs do the job at half the cost of the PetMate fobs. I'm very happy with these.

Pay attention! Only one tag!
The tag works but I should have paid more attention. Thought at this price that we were receiving two tags. Must pay attention to the written rather than visual.

a necessary evil
well, not evil, but you know the expression. I have had to purchase 2 extra tags after 6 months of owning the door. I have two cats and one cat has lost his collar twice and I found it once but the other cat managed to break his. I don't know how but it won't scan anymore, which I didn't think was possible.they really should make these a two pack, they're entirely too expensive, on top of a fairly expensive door. I mean, standard RFID tags in other applications cost only cents, CENTS! to make. granted the sealed plastic disk and water resistant label are nice, it still can't be too much. I believe they have adopted the Printer / Ink business model with these.these could also stand to be a lot smaller. one of my cats is fairly small, even full grown and his collar always gets in his food. it can't be a technical issue as you can see how much extra plastic there is around the metal tag if you hold it up to the light. in Europe and Canada they have models that read the standard RFID implant instead, so it can be done at multi-angle and small size. also, if the prices don't come down on the tags, I'll be getting one of those instead as soon as they're available in the US.FYI, I have solved my collar losing problem by using non-breakaway collars. to those that are concerned there was recently a study published by the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, finding that the most effective collars are actually the standard buckle type and there were no serious injuries in their sample group. source and summary: [...]

Great Product
This product works great. I have 3 cats and they all now use the door. I practiced having them go through the door before I installed it and then I helped them go in and out on the first day. None of my cats were scared by the loud latching noise the door makes. I installed the cat door in a boarded up basement window. This was most convenient for me because I didn't have to cut into a door or a wall. The door is great cause we no longer have to try to get the cats in at night before we go to bed and the cats really enjoy being able to come and go as they please. The only problem we have is that one of our cats now uses the door to bring us home presents. He has brought home both live and dead mice. We are hoping to train him not to do this, if he keeps it up we might have to remove his collar so he won't be able to use the door.
