Fantastic device but not too easy installation!
Well the first 30 minutes with this product was quite hectic. I obviously like many others here was having problems upon installation and I eventually gave some of the most helpful reviews a read. None of them worked for only one reason, a missing detail. So I'll help out and see if maybe I can get anyone who's having trouble back on track. So here we go.Step 1: Go to this link if you haven't already and download this. When it's finished, open it and go through the process of installing it (http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/9/4/69446ACF-E625-4CCF-8F56-58B589934CD3/Xbox360_64Eng.exe) Once you installed this, go to Device manager. For windows 7 there's various ways to do this but the easiest is to hit the windows key then click the control panel option, then click hardware and sound and then under Devices and Printers click Device Manager. For windows 8 just hold both the windows key and S then type in the search bar "Device Manager" and click it.Step 2: It will then show a lick of installed devices on your computer. Sort through the list until you see an option for "Other Devices." When you locate it, there will be an option under called "Unknown Device". You want to right click that then click properties.Step 3: When you click on properties it brings up a list with he option to update the driver. You then click that.Step 4: When you click update the driver, it'll give you a few options but you'll want to click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"Step 5: Now this is where I got confused by the reviews, but what you're gonna wanna do since there most likely won't be an option for "Microsoft Common Controller for Window Class" you instead want to scroll to the bottom of the list you're on and click on Xbox 360 peripherals. This will then bring up a new list of things you can apply the driver too.Step 6: Now scroll to the bottom of this list and click on the option that says "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Version blah blah blah 2014" (can't remember what it said at the moment :P) when you click that it'll then prompt an option that basically asks if you're sure you want to apply this driver and that it could screw up your hardware yadda yadda it doesn't though so just click yes.Step 7: Now all's you gotta do is sync the controller to the reciever which you just hit the button on the receiver and the button on the top of the controller which looks like a circle with 3 of these marks >>> and there ya go you can now game from wherever you're comfortable sitting at :)

Cheaper than the "Official" Microsoft one, and it works just the same with the same drivers.
I built a gaming computer for my brother-in-law and he wanted to be able to use the wireless controllers from his XBox 360 to play the games, so I searched around for the wireless receiver and found this one at a reasonable price. Microsoft wants to charge you $20-$30 for their "Official" one, which is a little ridiculous, and the charge and play cable won't work for using a wireless controller with a PC. So when I found this one, I did a little research on it, and read the reviews, good and bad, to get an idea of its quality. I read a lot of reviews that said that they couldn't get the receiver to work because there was no driver for it, but then there were a lot that said it would work with the Microsoft drivers. So I took a chance on it, heck it was less than 10 bucks so I wouldn't be out very much if it didn't work, and went ahead and ordered one to try out. When I received it, it was just like any other product from China, it was in a plain white box with a product sticker on it. Inside the box was the receiver and a small piece of paper with some very poorly written instructions in English. I plugged it in to the USB port on my computer to test it out, and at first it wouldn't register. So I plugged it into a different port, the first one was a USB 3.0 which are finicky by nature sometimes, and it popped up in the notifications try saying that it was searching for the drivers for the newly found device. After about a minute or so, it said it was complete. I opened up the Device Manager, and found the device in the peripherals section, which said it was a Microsoft USB Controller Receiver. I opened up the info for it to see what driver it used, and sure enough it installed the standard Microsoft XBox 360 Wireless Controller driver. I then loaded up Skyrim to see if it actually would function with my wireless controller. Once the game loaded, I pressed the sync button on the controller and the receiver to get them to connect to each other and once they did, I was able to use the controller to play Skyrim just like I have been with my wired controller. I was very pleased with the results, so I am actually going to buy another one for my computer. As long as you make sure the correct drivers are being used, you will have no issues with this receiver.

At least you can refund it.
The only reason this product received 2 stars instead of 1 is because it works, it's just a pain in the ass.Getting it to work was a pain, but it usually is. After you get it to connect and work, that's where the problem start.Wireless receiver is for what exactly? Playing wirelessly, without having the stress of a cord holding you back. Well, that kind of defeats the purpose of this item when I'm unable to keep the connection with the adapter if I so much as rotate my controller 30 degrees. Forget having the ability to move the controller around, or even move it behind objects (seriously, it loses connection when my hand moves in front of it for a millisecond). So basically as long as you keep it close and in the controller's immediate line of sight so the connection doesn't drop, it works. Faulty product? Maybe. I saw many, many other people's reviews saying the same thing and I bit my tongue and bought it anyway. I had no expectations yet I'm still disappointed. Not quite sure where all these fantastic reviews are coming from, perhaps paid reviews or at the discount of a free item. No, really, I've seen dozens of product sellers trying to (and successfully) buying 5 star reviews for $5-15 on various websites.Anyways, don't waste your time. Or better yet, waste your time and buy the product, then file a refund because they don't require the item being sent back which is the only thing good about this product, not having to waste my time sending it back.I'll be trying other brands or going wired. Thanks for the refund Amazon. Work on your product, Zettaguard.
