Committing to a healthy diet is a great way to take care of yourself and your loved ones. A healthy diet means selecting a variety of foods, including plenty of grain products, vegetables and fruits. Choosing foods that are low in fat, saturated fat and cholesterol is important. Bacos bits are made with the goodness of soy and can help you put these healthy eating tips into practice. In addition, Bacos is now Kosher and contains no added MSG.

keeps its promise
We use this stuff sparingly, as one would use a spice, but we use it in several contexts, e.g. from salads to omelets and then some. Several other brands of imitation-bacon, for use as an ingredient, have appeared over the years since 'Bacos' was introduced. Some are from big, well-known names in the foods/spices sector. I think we've tried all of them, but in any case, we've tried several, and all were disappointing. Now we stick with a winner. We always have 'bacos' in the house, to sprinkle on any dish where a bit of bacon flavor could add some culinary zing.

bacos
I like bacos and eat them every day on salad. I used to be able to buy bacos in bottles from this supplier but only the packets are available now and I don't like them as much. The product is good the packaging is just ok.

Not healthy
Michael Gregor in his book “How Not to Die”— a book which I think everyone who eats must read — writes, “Bac-Os are what are referred to as ultra processed foods, bearing no redeeming nutritional qualities or resemblance to anything that grew out of the ground and often containing added rubbish. ... have added trans fats, salt, sugar and Red 40, a food dye banned in a number of European countries”. I am not sure how accurate that is but the selling company probably ought to clarify why they claim it’s healthy.

Baco's Bacon Bits, 3.25 ounce (pack of 8)
Betty Crockers Baco's have always been my favorite substitute bacon for my salads. They have the best flavor of any of the bacon substitutes that I've tried and even the real bacon pieces are usually chewey and don't taste as good. I usually buy the bacon chips(a little bigger than the bits)but Amazon didn't have those. I highly recommend the Baco's.

Crunchy and fresh
So very very crunch and adds the burst of flavor that I really need when I am enjoying my salad.

They are NOT a healthy food, and probable vegan - maybe not - only because the "artificial and natural flavors, red 40 and other color added" could mean animal-derived ingredients. INGREDIENTS: Defatted Soy Flour, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Water, Salt, Sugar, Artificial and Natural Flavor, Red 40 and Other Color Added, Soy Sauce (Water, Wheat, Soybeans, Salt), Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (Corn, Soy, Wheat).AND are they truly vegan? "artificial and natural flavor . . . and other color added..." could mean animal products. Corn soy wheat - not organic therefore GMO.

Where have all the Bacos Gone?
Couldn't find them in the store in so long that I called Betty Crocker and was told this product was Discontinued. I was mortified. Get them before they are gone forever. Gluten free. Crunch.I saved an old bottle shaped container and transfer a packet into it. Shake, Shake.Happiness for awhile longer.
