Good petrol mower
It starts very easy, is relatively quite and does what it should do. The reason I have given only 4 is that I feel the handle moves a little too much. Nick picking really as it is quite good.

its broken after only 2 uses
This mower was SO time consuming to put together. I eventually had to hire a handyman to do so.I used it once on my lawn..seemed okSecond time i used it- the engine was really loud...when i stopped it to investigate..the blade had fallen off (and the 2 bolts had fused themselves inside).Buying off AMAZON...i cannot replace. Hoping this seller can replace as it wasnt cheap.

Mountfield and Briggs & Stratton - A winning formula
Bought this to replace an old petrol lawn mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine, which had served me well until it died after 12 years service. This particular model is made in Slovakia. As with most new lawn mowers, fresh out of the box, some assembly was required. I find this sort of thing quite tedious but it was fairly straightforward, all the holes lined up perfectly, bolts slid in without any fuss and the supplied allen key made sure everything was tight and secure. The grass collection bag was fiddly to assemble and needed plenty of force to push the 2 pieces together. Clearer instructions would have been helpful but fortunately you'll only ever have to assemble it once (unless somehow you manage to break it!).There's no oil supplied with the mower so be sure to buy a litre of 4 stroke lawnmower oil (or SAE 10W-30). The oil tank takes about half a litre of oil. It's worth adding a fuel additive/stabiliser to the unleaded petrol to prevent it from going stale. Mountfield claim their own brand of fuel stabiliser will keep petrol "fresh" for up to 2 years. In comparison to my previous lawnmower, the HP185 starts effortlessly, it fires up with a gentle tug of the starter cord, even when cold. The old one needed at least 3 or 4 arm numbing yanks of the cord to get it going. The first time I used the HP185 the grass was at least 10 inches long but the Mountfield cut through it with ease, although I did have the height raised to the highest setting. There are 5 height settings from 2 to 7 cm. The height adjuster is located by the right rear wheel and seems to only raise or lower the back end of the lawnmower. The engine runs perfectly, there's no "stuttering" or mis-firing as reported on reviews of some other lawnmowers. The grassbox fills up nicely without spilling cuttings all over the lawn.At 21kg it's a little heavier than my previous lawnmower but that had a polypropylene deck. As this has a steel deck, it's important to keep it clean and lightly oiled to prevent corrosion. I've never really understood why steel decks are favoured over the cheaper polypropylene decks. My last lawnmower took a hammering over the years but apart from some scratches the deck never broke or rusted. As with all petrol lawnmowers, this requires regular maintenance to keep it running smoothly. That's the only real downside I can think of owning one, compared to an electric lawnmower. I did consider a cordless battery mower but they all seem to struggle with long grass, which quickly depletes the battery.Overall I'm more than happy with this mower, it's perfect for my needs, cuts through a medium sized lawn in no time and it's a huge improvement over my last mower. This model is currently £40 cheaper from a shop that sounds similar to "Nail-Mend"
