Buy this expansion pack for your littel engineer
My son is now five and has been a HUGE fan of Thomas for three years. Over the years we have purchased a LOT of Thomas items, and probably every track expansion pack out there.This one is heads and shoulders above the others for several reasons.The only set of risers that can be stacked on top of each other (and can also be stacked for the most part with the yellow risers from other sets. Anyone who has tried to setup an overpass with the yellow has probably been frustrated that most engines need another 1/16 of an inch to drive under a bridge made with the tallest yellow riser.The bridge that comes with this set not only works as on overpass for your system, but the two straight pieces of track that clip in gives you a pretty small footprint for the bridge.Only set of tracks so far that includes a "buffer". My little guy loves to have an out of control train crash through the buffer at the end of a siding.Has a decent amount of switches, but your going to need more.All in all a great set of tracks.

If you are not familiar with the Trackmaster line, ...
If you are not familiar with the Trackmaster line, you need to do some research. This is the older track design, for which the newer engines are purposely designed and manufactured to NOT work with. Fisher-Price and and Amazon purposely fail to inform you of this. If you bought the newer engines, they work with the newer track, which you can identify by noticing that you can see between the railroad ties. This older track is not really compatible with the newer engines, so don't even try it. I wish I had learned this before my purchase. So either buy the newer engines with some newer track, or find some older engines to use with this older track.

New Thomas trains will get stuck at switches. Only suitable for older trains.
Warning. This track set is not designed for the new set of trains in the Thomas family. The new trains have an lower underside which causes them to get stuck at the switches of this train track set. They need to change the description of this item to caution consumers that the track set will only work with the older trains. It was very disappointing and frustrating to have to move the trains by hand at every switch (especially the Y-switches) and we will be returning this set. However, if you have the older trains with the raised underside, then I can see how this track set would be an excellent purchase.

The smile on my kid's face is priceless.
Only set of tracks you may need for your train-loving kid. But I find that it comes off quite easily on carpet. Maybe it is more hard-floor oriented. But my son is happy with it and plays with his train collection and this track everyday. Not quite easy to lay out the whole thing on the carpet (not a rocket science either!!). The risers are the only annoying pieces of this set. When the train moves on the risers, they tend to shake and will eventually come apart.

Best booster track set we could have bought
My son wanted a bridge to add to his already existing Trackmaster set. This was the answer to our prayers. The bridge is amazing and sturdy. The trains go over and under. Plenty of splitters and other goodies. It doesn't come with trains or stations or any of the other stuff - just tracks. Which was perfect for us. It of course works great with the Thomas motorized trackmaster engines and coaches. But we found out that it also works very well with the cheep wooden trains you can get that couple with magnets. Overall a great buy!

Great Track!
We bought this set as a gift for our 3 year old and he still plays with it after a year and a half. None of the pieces have broken. You can make a number of different track designs and it connects to other plastic Thomas track perfectly.

Extra shave needed
Every thing fits, until I used a recently bought 2AA cell Thomas and a brand new Henry locomotive, both get stuck on most intersections. I had to use a cutter to shave some 2 millimeters cause the locomotive get stuck each time, the bottom hit. Now they pass thru, but often they derail, I wonder if designed for other machines.

Son loves his train tracks!
We already had another track pack and needed expansion, preferably with a bridge, and this fit the bill perfectly! My almost 4 year old loves getting his train tracks out and making a huge track that spralls across the living room, and I love watching him put it together and have his trains go around. Now they can cris-cross not have a train wreck (which he enjoys too...).Highly recommend - only if you have other tracks to go with it, as this is an expansion!
