A very good reference but in effect a specialty tool for readers who will be familiar with medical clinical terms/conditions
this is a very special book which, in effect, details rather expletives diagnostic facts as it applies to several medical conditions. It can be used by non- medical people although they be somewhat Bio Medical knowledgeable because of its wording which, in accordance with the subject matter, inevitably has to contains a compendium of pure medical diagnostics terms. The book offers very detailed and rather in depth information concerning signs and symptoms of common enough diseases and affects as they occur in our present days societies. The information available in the book is a good guide to use in the case of non- medical people having to decide to seek medical help. I have some studies in basic Medicine but I am not a physician but it is nonetheless the reason for my purchasing the book which and I found most informative and very educational. It would no doubt be a very useful tool in the making of a better informed decision in the throes of seeking expensive medical help for oneself or for family members

This arrived in a timely fashion and was a great price. While it is not 2016 current
Needed a new updated version. This arrived in a timely fashion and was a great price. While it is not 2016 current, it does give good information and better than my 1992 edition. I know that the internet has access to most of this information but I do like having a hard copy as I can browse the index if I am not sure what the name is that I am hunting for. Not so easy when you are doing a computer search where it is important that you enter the correct term for what you are hunting for. Good general reference book.

If you can only have one book...
Current is a great text book for primary care. I am a Physician Assistant in the army and currently in Afghanistan. This was our go to text while in school, and it still is today for me. I have it loaded on my Kindle and always have it close to me as a reference. I would have given it 5-stars except for a gross grammatical error that I learned years ago to never use.I also like that they give me, “When to Refer,” and, “When to admit.” This gives me a reference for when I need to move a patient from my little clinic to an established hospital.I am also using to help study for my PANRE next year.Solid overall reference.

Great Reference
This is deennsseee. But its awesome because its dense. Not my go to book when it comes to studying but it can and has served the same function as Medscape and Epocrates for me. That is not exactly a ringing endorsement of this text as those sources are free, however I find digital content to never really match up to a good physical text ... at least for studying purposes. I should also note that I have found this book to be indispensable when I had to throw together a quick presentation or powerpoint.

The value of LANGE Medical Books
Jack Lange was a very good friend of mine, from the time of my post-graduate studies in the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center and I'm very happy to see the series of LANGE Books to be in the first line of Medical Education and Medical Practice. Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment, by Maxine Papadakis et. all is an excellent text-book for specialties MD, as well as for Medical students. As a Professor of Medicine in the University of Athens, I strongly recommend it for their studies.

Kindle edition needs to be organized for easy access to topics of interest.
Very good book. I used it since my med school days. Got the kindle edition but the table of contents is not detailed and the index at the end is so long that it is very hard to find the topic of interest easily. May be ok for people who want to review the whole GI or Cardiology chapter in one go but if you want to find heart failure specifically, you have to flip thru the pages to find it or use the search option which is very slow. Finally I returned the kindle edition after 5 days and ordered the paperback version today.

A very good resource for primary care
The shipping on this item was slow, but the book itself is excellent. As the title suggests, this is a book for clinicians who want to keep up with the latest treatments, etc. It really isn't for students who are learning the topics for the first time or for visual learners who prefer a lot of photos and diagrams. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is over 1800 pages thick and they bound it in a soft paperback cover.

Still Good After All These Years
I semi-retired due to illness and came back.....but in an office without Wi-Fi or good computer speed(rural)..New information is mandatory in any practice. This book is chalk full of good discussions, diagnosis, treatment of most problems in primary care. It has over 1100 pages...My first copy had 600...Yikes....That is why it so hard to be a Primary Care Provider any more. There is information overload.....and another reason 40% of Residencies were left empty in Primary Care/back to the trenches I love.
