Simply engrossing, you will be taken in and living an incredible experience.
Taylor Anderson has a strong background in military weapons and history. He uses that knowledge to great effect in the Destroyermen Series. The reader, William Dufris (1958 - 2020) was a voice actor of immense talent. He brings to life the myriad characters who populate this epic series. Unfortunately he died before the last book was completed. That book was masterfully read by P.J. Ochlan.

Continues to take the story forward
Taylor Anderson's Destroyermen series continues with Pass of Fire, an excellent read that focuses mostly on the war in the West. If you're new to this you really must start with book 1 in the series, Into the Storm, and read forward from there. Coming into the middle is NOT recommended! All our favorite characters from the end of the last book are here (no spoilers). Sometimes the series has a "Winds of War" flavor to it, but Anderson has a deft touch as a writer and keeps the characters grounded. He also manages to avoid the Turtledove curse (corporals knowing the global situation and politics); when a character in this book tells you the reader about the world, it's because that character is supposed to know. The writing has pace -- not rapid, but thoughtful, and yet carries the story along. We're clearly not at an end, but we arrive at a point where you can see a new world becoming to come into focus. I'm very interested to see where he goes next.

Great series but needs an ending to this chapter so a new one can begin.
I love the series. Truly love it. The characters are well written and the story is engaging. Having said that, I am a bit tired of the constant "bigger, badder bad guys" showing up just as things start to reach a tipping point. It seems as though at least one American vessel would show up considering the frequency of storm/portals and the sheer amount of them that were in the Pacific around the time of the series. Or even the Atlantic. Also, isn't it about time to start wrapping up at least one or both fronts? Taylor Anderson has shown us a wonderfully unique world and there are plenty of stories left to tell without the current wars.

Conclusion of a fifteen book series, and each book is worth your time!
Have read each book in the series, in order, and I don't feel that I wasted my time. If you want a story line you can fall into, you might want to read this series. If you want outer space action, this is not for you. If you want to experience a talented writer, enjoy a plot involving air, sea, and land battle action, and like strong character/plot development, then you should give this series a read. If you want a plot involving zombies, this is not for you. If you want crisp, imaginative writing, and a great storyline, this series should be on your reading list. In summary, if this guy writes a new series, or just one book, I will buy it without question. Yep, he's good. Very Good.

Damn the Mountain Fish! Full speed ahead!
So much science fiction is formulated these days, especially if you’ve been reading it as long as I have. This series is anything BUT formulated. It just keeps going and getting better each new title. Most series I have read peter out by the fourth or fifth book. Some go longer but virtually none have gone 14 books (I can’t believe this is #14!) and show no sign of slowing, let alone stopping. My only regret is I have to wait an entire year for the next one, but they are well worth the wait.

Awesome continuation to a great series of alternative history and civilization
No zombies be here! Monsters aplenty! Best story line for me since The Lost Regiment and The Last Brigade! Complex character development that just gets better and better. Few authors can combine mystery, intrigue and evisceration into their own gene. The author paints with a broad brush that places layered depth to a canvas that has edges still not insight. The plot is pretty straight forward but the story rich and grabs you by the gut and doesn't let up except for a surface breath, just as it is needed. Best regimented military science fiction with a hint of the apocalyptic dread since Arisen for us zombie junkies. This from a talented story teller that has a professionalism akin to a military corps battle staff with half a hostile world and civilizations still undiscovered just over the next mountain. Thank you for all the many evenings of making the journey with you! Keep the story going and must admit I have re-read the series more than once.

Possibly the best Miltary Scifi Series ever written!
First I would like to start off by reminding everyone that the Author has zero to do with the price that Kindle. That is not the author being greedy, that is all on Kindle, so if your review wants to state just that I just wanted to throw out how that is not fair to the author himself. Now as for the Book itself. The entire series does the best job of world building that I have ever come across and the real life knowledge of the weapons the author has really add to the story as well imo.The characters are very fleshed out (of course by book 14 of a series you would hope so) and everything they go through is just amazing in the wars and battles they were cast into through no choice of their own. Please pick this series up and give it a read, you will not regret it I promise, and again, it is not the authors fault for what Kindle decides to charge for any individual offering. Please keep that in mind reviewers! :)

The Pass of Fie is another excellent continuation of the series that just didn’t let up from beginning to end.
