CURT13171 Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2-Inch Receiver, Exposed Main Body, Fits Select Jeep Cherokee KL, GLOSS BLACK POWDER COAT

My order was delayed by over a week for some unknown reason. Upon arriving the hitch was sticking out of the box in two places. The box was in bad shape and there was no packing materials to protect the hitch. Surprisingly there was not damage noted. Install went fairly easy. The only trouble I had was lining up the side bolts. For some reason the holes didn't immediately want to match up, to correct this I started to tighten the downward bolts. After they were about half tightened there was an audible popping sound and the hitch shifted itself into place. I double checked the welds and all surrounding areas. Everything appeared to be good. The side bolts then lined up properly and I was able to finish the install. If purchasing for a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, IT IS LOW. Do not purchase a standard drop receiver. You must order a raised or adjustable receiver to work with most trailers. I originally ordered a 2" Drop receiver and ended up reversing the ball. Even then it was still a little low but at least manageable. Towed max capacity for my Jeep/Hitch ratings and found it to be very effective.

Perfect fit! Easy to install except I had the side screw in the wrong hole, so second try was easy! Lol. Very sturdy and heavy. I did manage to do this myself. You do not have to lower the exhaust with this hitch. 6 bolts and your done. Excited to carry my bikes again!

I was hesitant on ordering this because someone said it looked ugly on their jeep. Well, first of all it was extremely easy to install. I did install it myself so it may have taken a little longer then usual but it was just me and a jack to help lift the hitch to the frame. 45 minutes later and I was hooking up my bike rack to it and off I went to the park. I don't think it looks ugly at all. It's a hitch. anyways, I'm completely satisfied with this purchase. Hitch seems VERY sturdy.

Follow the instructions on Youtube, and you will have no problem installing. the only down side is that the outer brackets touch the decorative shields at the end of the muffler, that caused a rattle. This was easily fixed by sliding a cut heat-resistant hose between them.

Fits great! Works great!! But we had two minor issues....1. be ready to loose some ground clearance. We had about 200 pounds of cargo on a carrier and the hitch contacted the pavement crossing a couple of drainage dips in the pavement.2. Shortly after installation we noticed a "bumping" noise coming from the rear of the car (like the spare tire was loose). After some searching around I noticed that the muffler was hitting the cross-member on the receiver. There was bout a 1/2" clearance but there is enough movement in the muffler that when a bump was encountered the muffler contacted the cross-member. A bushing will need to be added in this area between the cross member and the muffler. I used a 6" piece of 1/2" fuel hose split it and zip tied it to the cross tube of the reciever. There is about 1/4" clearance between the tube and the muffler; fortunately to-date (4000 miles later) and after a 2000 mile road trip within one week we have not heard any of the "bumping" and the fuel hose does not show any signs of melting.Other than these two issues the receiver has been well "received".

A bit tough to install by yourself. Just keep in mind that unlike the Jeep receiver you can order from the factory, this one does not come through the rear bumper cover. it sets just below the muffler so IF you do off road driving or have steep driveway angle from street...ground clearance will be reduced in the rear. You can see the whole bar but it's not ugly by any means...We are also using it for a bike rack mount so being lower actually works better since you don't lift the bikes as high..Depending on how many times you drop the attaching nuts while trying to reach up to start them on the bolts.. it took the better part of a couple hours.worst thing that happened was one of the fish wires used to pull the bolts through the holes on the sides got hung up between the hitch side piece and the frame... so had to pull that side down again to get the wire sorted.Worth the money and effort compared to what the OEM Jeep receiver costs when you order a new Cherokee...

This product did not fit my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I called the number on the paper and that number is out of service. I called a curt customer service number and they said they can’t do anything for me they don’t deal with the public and sometimes the ends get bent in shipping to use a 2x4 and a bottle jack to spread it out myself. I should never have to put that kind of effort into an easy to install product. I called amazon they gave me the option to return the item.

The “manual” is poor because is black and white. But on YouTube you can search by “Hitch installation Cherokee” and it will make your life easier.I just need to tight it up.

This FITS the 2019 Jeeo Cherokee with no issues . Someone previously mention in prior review that it does not fit by 2 inches, well that ain't true. FITS 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE.
