Universal Dust Shroud for Grinders,5-Inch Dt1901-125

After having a cement pad poured 6 months ago I was left with a very undesirable texture that I could not do anything about until learning about converting an angle grinder for metal to work with diamond grinding cup wheel and this suction device that attached perfectly on a harbor freight grinder as I did not want to use a more expensive tool that may get destroyed in the process. After attaching the plastic shroud and connecting to the vacuum I was nervous about concrete dust all over the shop but I was very impressed how clean and dust free the area was so after 640 square feet and 4 hours later everything worked flawlessly and extremely dust-free. Would highly recommend especially doing surfacing indoors, nothing in the air and nothing on the ground. With a total of 6 gallons of concrete powder vacuumed in the shop vac this was definitely the way to go. I stopped mid grinding to show the rough texture compared to smooth. A+

It took a few minute to figure out how it fits. It was a tight fit on my DeWalt. Remember this is a value model, so don’t expect great instructions or a perfect fit. It does the job and is half the price of others.

Why anyone complains about a dust shroud that does what it’s supposed to for under $30 baffles me. If you’re expecting a big name shroud, you will pay a big name price. For a few projects a year maybe, this is perfect! A little adjustment on the universal rings, and attachment, and it’s good to go. It paid for itself after the first 15 minutes. Absolutely no dust released while grinding my garage floor. These are an absolute must for grinding concrete. Silica dust is so fine, and easy to end up everywhere, including breathing it. You can pay $26 for this, or $100 plus for a big name, your call. This works!

My grinding disc was the type that was not threaded and was held on with the locking washers. This did not work because the disc sat below the brushes. I had to buy a disc that was deeper in profile and had threads so you can screw the disc into the shaft. The clasp is useless and I just tightened the dust shroud with a socket wrench. The instructions are barely acceptable and the picture in the instructions are kind of crappy. The construction is cheap but considering the price it would be inline with the price.

The media could not be loaded. Seals well with the adapters took 2 minutes to put on and I was right back in action. Most important thing is to have the grinder blade just shy of the bristles of the shroud so the dust has no way out so it’s good to use those washers to perfectly tune it. Definitely worth the money.

Metal clamping ring and lever made of very cheap metal almost tin not steel... Bent and flared out when attempting to tighten clamps... also instructions could be more specific anybody who is not a contractor would have a problem assembling it... definitely could not recommend this product... A waste of money...

Had a DIY demo project to save $$ for small remodel of bathroom. Tile guy wanted the tile, Durarock, and thinset removed from concrete floor. Seemed easy enough until the thinset was impossible to remove wihtout grinding it off. Bought this cover to fit over my 5" grinder with the diamond grinder attached. Then hooked up a small 2" hose from this cover to my Craftsman 5gal shopvac. It worked super. Saved myself from a very dusty environment without this tool.

It’s “universal”. You may have to play with it to get a good fit. I had to take a screw out of my Bosch grinder. But overall it was 1/3 of the price then the exact model for my grinder.
