I'll start by stating my opinion that things build to support other things are better heavier than lighter. These bookends are fairly substantial and rigid as well. They're built strictly for function with no wood or other decorative features to weaken their function or waste space. Highly recommend.

Do you have tall books that slide or fall off your shelves? These will fix the problem. I have atlases, reference books, ring binders, photo albums, and oversized specialty books. These bookends are perfect in three ways. 1) They're tall enough to support the big books; 2) the bottom part that books rest upon in long enough to get enough weight on the bookend that it doesn't slide or topple; and 3) the neutral colors and simple design look good anywhere.See my pic showing how they arrived in flawless condition with minimal packaging. Each pair was in its own plastic sleeve to prevent scratching. The other pic shows a bookend against a 10-inch tall book.I compared many bookend options. I am delighted with these!

These bookends are practically hidden on my shelves which suits me fine. They are 4 different colors (not what I would have preferred) - I wanted all black, but found that the only way to get that color preference was to buy 8 sets, which is far more than I need. Well, the other way is to go find my can of black spray paint. It's here somewhere. These book ends will last awhile, and if I need to, they can be bolted to the shelves. I don't think that extreme measure will be needed, as my library is not public, and there are no children to mess up the arrangement. 4 star rating just because there was no choice of color unless buying a ridiculously large quantity of book ends.

Not recommend for heavy books or large volumes of books. My books bent the bookends. The spine of the bookends are flimsy. I managed to make them work by not putting a not of stress on the ends.

These are a bit larger than I was expecting. They are well thought out, the different color finishes allow books to be shelved in clusters around a theme, the felt padding beneath will not scratch the wood shelves, altogether effective, and certainly do the job. The size is what loses them a star. They are so tall they need to have big books next to them. Short books allow these bookends to stick up above. They also cover the front (or back) of all but the largest book covers, and some of those covers are art.

Good, solid, heavy duty steel with non-slip bottoms. Keeps my heavy reference library upright and 3 ring binders upright as well.

These simple bookends are very unobtrusive & functional. The rubber pads (and the weight of the books on top of them, of course) keep the lightweight metal L's from sliding away, and the metal L's keep the books stable. The paint is good quality so if they do happen to be noticed, they look good. When ordering, I wished there was a way to get all pairs in a single color. Since receiving & using them, I think they blend in so well that it probably doesn't matter unless you are very aware of such things. I wouldn't pay extra for the option of a single color if it were to be offered.
