Really cool knife!!
This knife is extremely cool, the first knife that I've owned that's incredibly easy to conceal, excluding pocket knives of course. The handle is on the thin side, but I found it really comforatable, and I have larger hands. The sheath that it comes with is excellent, and does a great job of holding the knife tightly, but not so tightly that you couldn't get it out quickly if need be. You can also turn the sheath around and wear the knife inside your waistband, and the clip grasps onto the belt nicely, which is the main reason it's so concealable - (I love this feature if you couldn't tell). The only change I would, and did make is to remove the sheath strap, as I find that it gets in the way of drawing time. And be aware that this knife is made in Taiwan, but with sogs reputation, it's not something I'm super concerned about.

Overall, a disappointment
What can I say - I had high hopes for this and I was let down. First, the item arrived with a defect. The black part of the handle was loose. I don't blame Amazon for this. I blame SOG (and I'm a SOG fan) because it seems like a real design flaw. The blade itself has an aggressive look and I loved the design of it. I thought the grip itself would probably prevent my hand from sliding up onto the blade. What I didn't love was the narrow feel of the handle when I gripped it. I probably could have guessed this might be a problem from the pictures. In any event, the narrow handle would have decreased its utility as a hiking/camping/survival blade. The cherry on top of the disappointment sunday, however, was the sheath. The belt clip really didn't feel that great and I wouldn't trust it at all in a dynamic situation. There is a little strap holding the knife in place, and that felt cheap as well. For this amount of money it ought to have a functional sheath. (I called SOG and asked if the seal pup nylon sheath would hold this thing, but they said no - the knife would be too loose in the seal pup sheath).Even if the one I received didn't have a defect in the handle, which caused me to return it, I'd probably be sending it back because I didn't like the feel and I hated the sheath. I decided instead to go with theĀ SOG Specialty Knives & Tools S21T-K GOV-TAC, Black TiNi . It's gotten great reviews here and across the web, so hopefully it works for me!

So-so. Not a top SOG pick; especially not for a higher price.
The Swedge III is often sold for over $100. I bought one here because it was around $50. It's OK for that price, but I'd be upset if I'd paid more. The knife seems like it's hyped because of the different style of the blade, not really for great utility. Cons: Heavy for a boot knife or concealed blade, yet almost too thin for solid grip. The handle is a little too long; it sticks WAY past the sheath. For belt carry, the sheath clip position keeps the handle protruding very high on the body; uncomfortable and awkward, especially because the tip of the tang is pointed, so it tends to dig in. That tip should have been been made smaller by eliminating the "SOG" cutout, then rounded off to avoid scratching skin, clothing, or other gear. The retention strap is poorly designed in location; the act of drawing the knife can easily sever the strap. Overall, the sheath feels kind of cheap. The knife is handle-heavy. Pros: It's a solid piece of steel. If the ads are correct, the tip and edge should be tough. The knife looks different, so I guess it's a nice add to a collection. And it was very sharp. I actually think that if it was made as a traditional tanto instead of the inverse tanto point, I'd like it better. Overall, OK - but no way would I pay the prices I see everywhere else. The Seal Pup Elite, Ops, or Cold Steel Kobun would be a better choice before spending a lot more money.

Knife A+ sheath D-
Knife is sharp RAZOR sharp! I love the knife the flat blade is just what I was looking for. Now the sheath.... Its just bad bad BAD! When attached to your belt the handle is way too high and jabs you in the rib cage. Solid build but just mounts WAY too high. My personal preforence would have the handle at the belt level not jabbing you in the rib cage. You may like that but its not for me.

Excellent!
This thing is nice! I have been collecting knives since I was a kid, and I have had them all. This is not the best I have, but it still gets high marks for its usefulness. It was well worth what I paid. The Kydex sheath that was belittled in a different review is actually extremely well made. No need to worry about it accidentally sliding out, even if the thumb strap is disengaged. The sheath is designed to satisfy any kind of mounting, be it belt, shoulder harness, arm mounted etc.The knife blade itself is extremely sharp, razor sharp, in fact, with one of the strongest blades I have ever seen!If you are looking for something to feel oversized and cumbersome in your hand as another reviewer seems to want, then this is not for you. If you are seeking a well-balanced, razor sharp, easy in your hand, well made piece of steel greatness, look no farther than this masterpiece. The handle is well made, but may not be what you have come to know in most knives. It fits perfectly in the folds of my hand like a good blade should. It is not a hammer and was not intended to mimic one either! It is a great all-around utility knife you can use for most anything including self-defense.
