temperature sensor for SBC motor
Inexpensive way to replace your water temperature sensor is not corroded and/or failing. Easy to replace. I use teflon tape to seal depending on the circumstance and what i have available. Best to do when the engine is cold so no pressure on the coolant system. Take the cap off the radiator to release extra pressure if there is any. If done quickly, coolant loss is minimal so i do not drain my system, but have a shallow pan handy to catch runoff and save a messy cleanup. The sensor comes with the clip that matches its connection point which was helpful in my case.

Resistance values don't match a 86 chevy c10
They don't make the correct unit for the 80s squarebodys anymore. The resistance values for this best match the 70s trucks. Corvette central sells a adjustable resistor to correct the difference. 1957-1996 TEMPERATURE SENDER VARIABLE ADJUSTABLE RESISTOR. It will come with the instructions needed to set things up.

Works Perfectly
Purchased and installed a factory instrument panel gauge conversion for my 67 Chevelle. After install the temp gauge was not working. I determined that the temp sensor included in the kit was bad so I bought this as a replacement and it works perfectly. This sensor measures about 550 ohms cold and about 30 ohms hot which is what GM gauges of that vintage require.

I installed mine without draining the radiator. A little messy but doable if you work fast.Since these parts have NPT threads (National Pipe Taper), Teflon tape is not necessary, so I removed the piece covering the threads. This ensures good continuity since the block grounds the sender. It also prevents wrong temperature readings from the gauge. No leaks detected after starting my Vette. Excellent replacement part and cheaper than several aftermarket water temp senders.

It fixed the temperature gauge that was barely moving from the "C" on my '67 Riviera and it came with the plastic connector that I also needed as mine was bad.
