Nothing glitchy or shady here.
I started with a Geni Mini but, from the start it was so buggy I had to send it back. I'm a professional photographer and use a Canon EOS R. I do a lot of timelapses, and panoramas. The MIOPS 360 is solid as a rock and works flawless with my camera. It also works without a hitch with the IOS software on my iPhone. It's a pleasure to watch it stop, take a image, then resume turning. Initially, the settings seemed different from what I was used to dealing with. I contacted MIOPS and they promptly responded, saying they are coming out with a firmware update that simplifies the setup process. Actually, when you experiment a bit with the settings that are there, it starts to make sense, and not hard at all. After my bad experience with the Geni Mini, I hesitated to order the MIOPS 360 due to the lack of reviews. I have other MIOPS products though, and have been well pleased with them, so I gave it a go. Glad I did, and would recommend it to anyone.

Word of warning if you're using a DLSR/Mirrorless camera
Overall, I love the Capsule360, it does what it says it does and makes shooting timelapses and panoramas a breeze. However, if you are shooting with a DLSR or Mirrorless camera you will need a cable to connect the Capsule360 to the camera, the cable is not required if you use the Capsule360 with a cellphone. If you look at the contents of the package for this listing you will notice that the cable is not included, you will have to purchase a cable separately for your specific camera model from MIOPS.

False advertising... Don't waste your money... Total trash!
The main reason I bought this product was as a compact star tracker, which was a function that they were pushing heavily. However, this product comes with NO WAY of doing a polar alignment. Kind of key function for something that is supposed to be able to function as a "star tracker" don't you think? Total garbage... Then, when you try to contact MIOPS for the support you get no response. Also, when you try to post a review on their site that is negative it disappears... funny how that happens.... Don't waste your money on this garbage if you're looking for a star tracker. Spend the cash to get a proper one and you'll be much happier.UPDATE:I contacted MIOPS and they gave me some articles to do a complex drift alignment yet the 360 includes nothing to do it with. Followed the instructions in one pdf they sent me and it told me to use a camera to align with polaris. Mocked up a holder using their L bracked to get the center of the lens in line with the center roational stud of the 360, like they said and got severe star trails at anything about 20 seconds. A real star tracker, which this one is NOT, will allowy long exposures of a minute or more. This piece of junk does none of that as there is no reliable way of aligning it with Polaris. If it really was a star tracker then it should have everything you need to track stars in the box.

Instructions Lacking
All very frustrating. No videos nor instructions on how to set up 2 Capsules for Multi-Row Panoramas. One 360 Capsule does an OK job of doing straight- forward panoramas in Landscape mode but if you are interested in doing anything more than that, good luck in getting it done.No way to hold a camera in Portrait mode, the clamps are NOT Arca-Swiss compatible so performing a Pan and Tilt multi-row panorama in Portrait mode is virtually impossible.

Works perfectly, and exactly how it is advertised.
This is an excellent unit that has a terrific app, and an excellent set of functionality. It's pricier than a low-cost manual gimbal pano head, but I think it is worth it.The app is impressive. It makes it super easy to set up the camera. Just pick your sensor size, then set your lens focal length, whether you are vertical or horizontal and the amount of overlap (30% is a good number) and the view / pan angle. It calculates the number of shots, and you click Start and it takes off, shooting each shot in sequence. At the end of the sequence, it stops firing the shutter, and continues to turn back to your start point. And don't forget the cable, which is extra. You need to get the one specific for your camera, and the Amazon checkout flow bypasses that. You can find out the correct cable on the MIOPS website. If you are using a smartphone, you don't need the cable. The only function I would like to see on the panorama screen is a manual pan button to set your starting point. For example, if you start your sequence, and you stop for any reason, it stops at that spot and you have to go to another screen to pan back to your starting point. Would be great to have that right there but you either rotate the tripod or use the manual function on another screen to set your starting point again. My gimbal head that I bought solves that problem because I can just rotate the head manually to get back to my starting point.Getting your tripod head level is also critical, because if not the shots will track at an angle, and its hard to see it's off until you pan and see it is not level. Again, my gimbal bracket solves that problem because I can quickly pan manually to ensure I have the level set correctly. Once I get that set, I return the camera to my starting point and begin the sequence.A few are complaining that it doesn't come with a bracket. When I bought mine I had no illusions that it was everything I needed. No, it doesn't come with a bracket for vertical and / or nodal adjustments, but it does exactly what it says it does. Not everyone needs or wants that kind of setup, so it makes sense to not include it, e.g. if you are using it for turntable shots, or time lapse photography. It's not exclusively a pano head, and no reason to include something you don't need.If you want to do multi-row panos, just get a right angle bracket with a tilt function. Or, better yet, get a gimbal head that makes it easy to do overlapping rows, and even allows you to adjust for the nodal point. I got the Neewer gimbal for $60 and it works great for taking a panorama row, then adjusting for the next overlapping row. You hit the Start button and it repeats. Very simple and easy to do.If you have the budget, just get 2 Capsule 360 units and their bracket, and it will do multi-row panoramas automatically. I opted to get the single unit and use a gimbal head to set my row angles. This is just some of the functionality the Capsule 360 has. I've only had it a few weeks, so I'm still learning, but really happy with it so far.
