Well designed porcelain kettle
Had this kettle for a month now, and it is a great little kettle. In our house, it is mainly used to heat water for a french press, and it works great for that purpose. The whistle is loud and easy to hear from other rooms. The kettle seems to heat evenly, and retains heat well. The construction is sturdy and with high quality materials; empty, it is heavier than my old copper bottom revere ware kettle, even though it is a smaller capacity, which I attribute to the different construction materials. We use the kettle on a ceramic cooktop, so the porcelain exterior is great because it won't damage the ceramic stove. The spout flips open and stays open, which is very helpful. The lid fits securely, and is easy enough to remove for filling. Our kitchen faucet has a high arch of its own, so because the kettle handle also arcs over the top, we have to hold the kettle at a slight angle when filling. Not a big deal and not annoying. If your faucet has a less pronounced arch, you may have an easier time filling. As long as you don't over-fill the kettle (it has a fill line marked on the exterior, and it's common sense -- don't fill so much that there's water in the spout already) then the kettle won't spit. If you enjoy seeing the kettle spit boiling water, by all means, fill beyond capacity and see what happens -- just keep the kids and kitties away or it'll be a blistery lesson learned. ;)

Gorgeous, Classicc and Functional
This is our second, after I dropped the first on the handle, which dented the kettle and cracked the enamel so it flaked off. After a few years, I had to replace the hinge pin with an aluminum nail after the plain steel pin rusted and fell apart. I'm hoping they've realized the flaw and used something that won't rust in the newer one.Using a gas stove, the handle will get too hot to hold if you boil a cupful of water until it whistles, or heat a larger amount. Just grab a towel to hold it with.

Stylish tea pot
I've owned and used this teapot for about 6 months now. I've looked at some of the pervious reviews and I have not had any of the problems other reviewers have had. I'm not sure what I can say about a teapot other than it works. It holds the amount of water it says it does - which is just right for one or two cups at a time. The whistle is nice - not too loud, but I can hear it if I am in the same room or the next. I bought it in orange and it is just as pictured. The teapot is stylish and still looks good after several months of use.

Love tihis tea kettle
Looks great with my orange Kuerig and what I found most amazing (because I use it a couple times a day and we have a lot of minerals in out water) is how easy it was to clean the inside. I did not even have to use lemon juice and baking soda. Scrubbed with a soft bristle brush and used a little vinegar and it was clean in no time. Great teakettle. Perfect size for making a pot of tea.

Worked for 5 months, poorly made
I purchased this tea kettle in November 2012. When I received it, I absolutely loved it. Orange is one of my favorite colors and this kettle was beautiful. Unfortunately, as many others have pointed out, it wasn't made well. After only a short period of time, the handle became loose, I had to retighten the screw on the round lid, etc. Today, the end piece (where the water is poured out) completely broke off. I have used the tea kettle daily for about five months but have been very careful with it. Because I use it daily, it never leaves my stove; in other words, it hasn't been bumped or thrown around cabinets and what not. I've hand cleaned it (I don't even own a dish washer) and have obviously never had anything other than water in it. A couple of weeks ago, a small piece connected to the spout attachment broke off. The plastic broke and I couldn't reattach it. Today, the rest of the spout attachment broke off. The last tea kettle I had lasted years and years and years. This one only lasted five months. Now, I'm going to shop around for a DIFFERENT tea kettle. Good day everyone!

Decent product at a reasonable price
Small size is a bit of an issue but it works fine. Had to send first one back as it had a big flake of finish knocked off. Packing was less than good.

Cute!
My teakettle is perfect. When I took it out the box, I thought it seemed very small, however it holds plenty of water. I like the fact that it doesn't take up much space on my stove, so small is perfect for me.The color is very true to what you see on your screen. Very bright. Pop of color for my kitchen. The whistle is very clear. Definitely recommend!

Looks nice, but has design flaws - splashing, etc.
Looks great, but has a few significant issues.1. Handle gets very hot. Some kettles can be picked up without a cloth. This handle tends to be too hot.2. Due to the design of the spout causing pressure in the pot, this will splash at times. That's extremely dangerous is you have kids around, as it can splash a good distance. (I almost splashed hot water on my cat.)3. The device at the end of the spout rusted and broke after about a year.I'm writing this review because I'm on Amazon looking for a new kettle.

Loving this bright piece, and I'll admit I was hesitant
I was hesitant to purchase the Rachel Ray Tea Kettle because I figured it looks cool, so how good can the quality be?I was also hesitant because I read TONS of reviews before picking the right stovetop kettle and had seen a few bad ones. What I found in my research was that the 2 Quart kettle had worse reviews than the 1-1.5 Quart. I don't really know why that would be, but I made sure to get the good one!Any reviews I had read were about the whistle not working, the lid not opening and closing properly, or water dribbling when pouring.I am happy to let you know that after owning and using this tea kettle for about a month and a half (I don't use it every day, but enough) and I have had no issues! It heats well, it whistles, the lid functions perfectly fine and it pours without making a mess or burning my hands (steam). Absolutely love this kettle!

That being said I am still happy with the product
Not the easiest to get in and clean and the whistle doesn't whistle that well. That being said I am still happy with the product. Does the job, looks good and is good quality. Happy with my purchase.

The flaw in this product is the fact that the handle gets very hot. You should be able to pick up the kettle to pour.
