M-Fi S/W will not run on JAVA Ver 8. Product no longer being supported by Ubiquiti
This product is no longer being updated by Ubiquiti, only being produced to support exiting users. Software will not run on Java Version 8. You would have to downgrade to Version 7, and then live with the constant nags to upgrade you Java. NO THANKS. Mine is in the box for return today.

Works Great!
Paired with mFi-THS temp sensor and i'm impressed at the features for the price! We will be looking at other products by this manufacturer as well.

Product is completely end of life and no longer being maintained by Ubiquiti. Java from 2012 is required to run this. Check out Ubqituiti's own forums where they openly admit the software has been abandoned. Yet, they continue to sell the devices.

Ubiquiti mFi product line has been discontinued - mPort and mPower
Warning !!! - Apparently Ubiquiti has discontinued development of this product, although it works, they no longer support updates to controller (still Java 6) or firmware nor have they in six months. You can find a letter on Ubiquiti forum "is Mfi dead" from Ubiquiti employee (Robert) stating such, however they are continuing to sell products, probably because they have stock to get rid of. Appears they are bowing out of the IoT sensor/power controller market for now. I like their mFi product line and it is relatively stable, however beware investing in something being discontinued.

Good but could be much better.
The device is great for monitoring temperatures and motion via a wifi network but it can not be relied upon for fail safe operations like critical climate control. It sometimes will not get back on the wireless network after a power failure. Also there is no simply way to set up fail safe conditions on the controller software or mpower units. The mfi works good if there are no network interruptions or power failures but we were looking for failsafe control. However you can monitor temps at two locations for about $125. You can get sent notifications based upon alarms.
