PERFECTION
During these strange and unusual times of being at home so much. We thought it would be a good idea to go through some old slides and film and convert them to digital. This is pretty awesome. I've used one about 5 years ago my grandfather bought that was brutal to use. This one is so much easier. Plus you can save all those memories forever in the cloud and they won't degrade anymore or get lost so generations can enjoy them and look back on them. Crazy that when I was a kid we shot in slide film and my baby stuff is all in 8mm film. Different times haha. I hope this helps. We found it super easy to use and easy to setup and get going.

Good for negatives & slides--not pictures
I've had this for a few days now and have been having fun scanning old negatives & slides. The quality of those is fairly good. The little viewscreen on the scanner is deceptive. It shows an image that reminds me of the kiddie digital camera I got for my son about 15 years ago...really poor quality. But once I uploaded the images, I could see that the final image was fine. My biggest issue with this is that it does a very poor job on actual photographs. I tried a few yesterday. Like everyone else, I wound up losing a photo inside the machine because it didn't fit perfectly within the little frame holding the pic in place (was able to get it out without too much trouble). This was a standard size picture, but with rounded corners. So any picture with rounded corners will not be able to be scanned. But the other issue is that the pictures that DO fit in the frame are not scanned fully. I wound up with scans of the center part of the picture--not the entire image. A flatbed scanner would work much better for actual pictures. Still, I'm happy to have this little machine (which is so light and feels like it's cheap...which it isn't) because I'll be able to scan old negatives and slides. Serves its purpose for me.

Poor quality photo scanning.
I was disappointed with the quality of scans. Photo exposure is uneven. Centers are darker than edges possibly due to the internal reflection of light source. Slides and negatives were ok but there are other scanners for less that are better.

Don’t waste your time
I was looking for a way to scan about 80 4x6 photos that would be easier than just using the phone camera, and having to adjust for skew when taking them. This unit seemed reasonable at about $100.The resulting copies were, at best - poor. There wasn’t enough detail captured to even be able to edit to gain a decent duplicate. Most were dark, even adjusting as best as possible. Focus is a big negative. The unit also has some design flaws. First the photo holder must be removed for inserting each photo. This gets to be real pita after a while. But it is a design that requires the door to completely close, so ok. But the real problem is that the photo holder for the 4x6 pics, is too large for a 6” wide photo, and they frequently fall out of the holder, which requires, you to remove the holder, then tilt the whole unit to try and get the original out of the slot, while holding the trap door open. You MUST ‘share’ the side to side positioning when inserting each phot to be scanned, and make sure it does not slide sideways when the holder is inserted into the door. You can still make a better scan of photos, just using your phone camera, taking the time to position it parallel to eliminate most of the skew.Sorry, but this one is going back.

Doesn't actually scan up to 5" X 7" as it states.
There are two major problems with this device. I love the ease of use and the ability to use it anywhere with an outlet. The problems are the photo holder is not designed for all photos sizes up to a 5"X 7" as it states. The second problem is that when you scan the photo it only captures what you can see in the view finder. The second is the largest turn off :( Why say you can scan a 5"X 7" when you can't you can only scan what is seen in the 2 1/4" viewer.

Not exact but Good.
The unit is fine and works well. Although I bought this particular one because it said it did 110 negatives. Unfortunately the pallet for 110 negative did not come with the unit. Would be nice to know if I can get one and where. I gave you a five because it came in a timely fashion and is easy to operate and does everything else it said it would do. Much faster than a flatbed scanner.

Sizes
Have several old photos that did not fit the slide plate to mount the pictures. Would be nice even if I had to order another plate for those size's. Even had to trip some pictures about a 1/16 " to make them fit. You need to make sure when you put the picture on the plate to scan that it is not bowed. If the picture is bowed it will hang up when you remove the plate and a few of my pictures came off inside the scanner, an yep there is no place to open it up to get out your stuck picture you have to retrieve it through the plate slot. Over all it a great device making phote scanning easer and quick but I still suggest running the photos through enhasment software. I gave it a 4 because it make quick work for scanning photos on a SD chip then putting them copying on your computer to work on later.

Designed for Windows Vista or XP. Don’t waste your time an money. Garbage
I had really hoped this would work. It’s very old school and not user friendly. Just doing one normal sized picture seems forever to change. Doing slides will be torture taking them in and out of the plate. I didn’t even try the film. If you decide to use the software, good luck. It’s designed for windows XP or Vista. You’ll need a cd drive OR try hard finding it on the website. Once found it won’t install. Extremely disappointed. You ALSO need to purchase an extra SD card with some space. You can only save 2 pictures to the one provided. Don’t waste your time on this one. Amazon shouldn’t be selling something so out of date!!
