Wow! Mostly pros with minor cons.
Most important! Weber has made two grill top sizes in recent years...make sure you get the right size because the Genesis line changes a couple of months back. The manufacturer website wasn't really clear about this, and I had to return the first 40 lb set...which was mostly my fault.I upgraded from the standard lightweight grates that came with my grill. These are far superior, leaving me wondering why I didn't get these years ago. In the pro column, these are sturdy, heavy, well made grates that cook evenly and stay hot way longer than the others (for obvious reasons). They are definitely worth the investment, despite being a little spendy. In the con column, although they are porceline enameled, the surface still performs like cast iron. In other words, food tends to stick like it does to cast iron so you need to season accordingly. Given this, I'm not totally sure about the reasoning behind the coating, but this isn't an issue to me now that I know how they perform.

satisfied w/ new style cast iron grates
I have a Weber Genesis Silver B outdoor grill that has been aging beautifully over the last 8 years. Two years ago, the grill's output started getting rather weak so I decided to perform some maintenance by replacing the burner tubes and propane gas line/regulator assembly. All of the other parts were in good condition, although one of the cast iron greats had a small chip in the porcelain coating. After six years of heavy seasonal use - this grill looked incredibly good. This past year I had made the foolish mistake of not sheltering the grill from the harsh winter weather. Not only did I ruin all that hard earned seasoning on the inside of the grill, but that small chip in the cast iron grate quickly led to deteriorating corrosion. At this point, the grill has been put to use for eight years and I have no problem whatsoever investing more money in its maintenance. I chose to go with the cast iron grates because of the way they retain heat and because stainless steel grates don't look as nice no matter how well you clean them. I read several reviews on the Weber 7526 Cooking Grate and realized that they are different from the stock grates that have the thick porcelain coating. I understand that these cast iron grates are an alloy of some sort to where there is some type of porcelain mixed within the iron itself. I like these grates. After installing these grates, the Weber 7513 Warming Rack , Weber 7514 Warm-Up Basket , Weber 7536 Flavorizer Bars , and after meticulously detailing the entire grill I fired up the grill on high heat for about 30 minutes.I then decided to cook some boneless skinless chicken thighs(great w/ tortillas). These were always annoying to grill because they would always tend to stick to the older(corroded) grates. After applying some cooking oil to the grates, I cooked up the marinated(plain yogurt, apple cider vinegar, w/ Sazon Goya con culantro y achiote seasoning) chicken thighs on medium low heat and had no problems with the meat sticking to the grates. Clean up was easy as well. The dimensions of these Weber 7526 cast iron cooking grates are approximately 17 1/2" x 11 3/4". They are very heavy duty and were a worthwhile investment. This Weber Genesis Silver B gas grill is once again ready for some serious outdoor cooking.

Great replacement grate!
i ordered this grate based on reviews when my original Weber grating started to fall apart. I decided to spurge on what seemed like a better item and I am glad I did. For one, these should outlast any other replacements which could same me money in the long run. For another - the cooking surfaces are flat. This really makes it easy to get your spatula under burgers and other foods without them falling apart. These grates also really heat up well and give you a restaurant-like look to your seared foods. I a very satisfied with this product.

1995 Weber Still Going Strong!
I purchased my Weber Silver B back in 1995 and after countless burgers, steaks, salmon, and poultry it was time to rebuild it. Not that it really needed it, but we managed to catch the whole thing on fire last season ("honey where's the fire extinguisher?"). The old grill just wasn't working like it should. Ordered new burner tubes. New Stainless Flavorizer Bars. And the new Cast Iron Enamel Cooking Grate.I took the grill to the local car wash, pressure washed the whole thing, came home and started disassembling. Note: Read the instructions! Makes life much easier. It took about an hour. Fired right up and heated to over 525 degrees. I had pre-coated and cleaned the grate with olive oil and a paper towel, just cause I'm sort of weird about cooking on something without washing/cleaning first.I have to say, wow what a difference! My old grate was cast iron,(I too suffered with the rust battle),they say that the rust won't harm you, but I still always felt self conscious about it. This new one holds the heat, clean up is easy, and even though people claim the grill marks don't add any flavor, food just tastes great! Best investment ever! My grille is over seventeen years old, I spent just shy of $200 to refurbish it. I can't think of a better recommendation for a product than to have it just last and last. Compared to some of the cheaper junk that's out there, buy a Weber and get these grates, people will think you're a Master Griller!

I'm sold on Cast Iron cooking grates now!
My Weber did not originally have cast iron. I was revamping my old grill with a new set of burner tubes (though only the crossover bar was rusted out-these burners last a LONG time). I also got new flavorizer bars even though they weren't rusted out (they also last a long time) and replacing the cooking grates. I took a chance and ordered the cast iron grates instead of the original ones and I am so glad I did make that change. I have had these for a few months now and am loving cooking with all my new parts. It is like having a new grill at a fraction of the cost of a new Weber. The cast iron grates really hold the heat so much better and give those excellent grill marks and seared taste. Burning off the food for cleaning works well. I had a grill once that had stainless steel rod-type cooking grates and those were the devil to clean. High heat to burn it off didn't work on those. The old steel grates on this Weber burned off super easily on high heat and the cast iron ones do just as well. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Pricey & High Mtce, but Cast Iron is the only way to go
3rd replacement on my now 10+ year old Weber Silver B as the old units had rusted to the point where the ribs were almost gone in a few spots. They are OK, but need constant effort to keep the cast iron sealed & even at that, after under 12 months, they are starting to surface rust and spall (I never use a wire brush on them, but do live in the PNW, so humidity is an issue).Down rated because they are pricey for what they are & I think cheaper aftermarket units could do the job as well/better, but couldn't find any cast iron ones that fit the grill (which I like because the burners give a great cooking surface).
