No More Risk of Camera Lens or Screen Scratches!
If you have the Asus Memo Pad HD7, you've already been confronted by its Prime Dilemma:- How do I set the HD 7 down without risking scratches to the front screen or rear camera lens? (Not to mention scratching the non-rubber coated plastic back of the HD 7 - but at least those scratches would be merely cosmetic and not affect performance.)And there is a "corollary" to the Prime Dilemma, as expressed by some reviewers:It won't lie flat for viewing (thanks to that little camera turret)! Finally, I would add:I can't prop it up (without a stand or the Asus case) to watch a video! This Poetic case neatly solves all three problems. (1) It adds a ridge to the front screen, so you can set it down on a flat surface without risk to the screen; (2) the rear of this case is thick enough so the camera lens is now slightly recessed, so it is protected if you place the tablet down on a flat surface on its back (and of course the rest of the back is now covered); (3) and with the grippy rubber case on, I can prop it up at almost any angle and it won't slide away. And oh yes, the stock Asus body, even in the slightly stickier matte finishes (dark blue and black), ARE a tad slippery. AND almost any tablet has a better survival rate, in the event of a drop on a padded corner or back, than an uncovered tablet. Even if you do the classic place-tablet-on-bedcovers-forget-about-it-and-get-out-of-bed move, so that the tablet slides to the floor, this cover is sticks to bed covers better and at least won't slide off like a toboggan down a hill in winter. There is one inevitable drawback: it adds a little weight. Well, compared to a thin-shell polycarbonate snap on case, it adds a fair chunk of weight (I'm guessing 2-3 ounces at least), but then most polycarb cases won't protect the lens or the screen - they don't recess the lens, or have a deep enough front ridge to protect the front screen, just in everyday activities like setting the tablet on a nightstand (this varies from company to company of course, so YMMV).Some reviewers have complained that the front part of the case should wrap deeper over the top and bottom of the front screen (standing up longways). I can see their point: this is soft rubber or silicone (feels more like rubber, but the two are pretty similar), and so it is easy for a stray finger tip to distend any of the edges (but not the corners - that is critical) over the adjacent lip of the tablet. This is somewhat annoying - it's nice to have things stay where they are supposed to - but in practice doesn't make the case insecure or ineffective, because the tight corners keep the case on. Amzer, in their iPad line of similar rubber-wrap around cases, has a thick band across the top and bottom (portrait mode) (they use silicone, though, I think - my kid's iPad 2 has one one). But here's the rub: the Amzer cases for the iPad 2 are a perfect fit - neither tight nor loose, just like this Poetic for the HD 7 - but the extra case coverage on the top and bottom edges on the Amzer on the iPad 2 mean it is EXTREMELY difficult to put the case on or take it off. On the other hand, the choice made by Poetic - to have a uniform .25" surround lip on all four sides - means the case CAN be removed and replaced without pot-boiling levels of heated consternation. It's easy!Ok, so you are thinking in rebuttal, that you only have to put this on one time. Maybe. But, personally, I like the fact that I can quickly and easily take off this Poetic case to strip down to the lightest possible tablet for extended reading, where after a while every ounce feels heavy. Then quickly and easily put it back on for protection on the nightstand. You can't do that with a deeper wrap-around case like the Amzer on the iPad 2.There are cut-outs for speaker (perfectly positioned and sized - a challenge for a long narrow slot like that), MicroSD slot, camera of course, USB and pin-hole microphone (one slot) then the headphone plug right next to it, but separated by a rubber bar, which is the better way to do it. You will want to check yours upon arrival to make sure the pin-hole mic isn't covered at all, it is positioned right up against the corner of that mic/USB cut-out. I am assuming these things don't measurably vary in size from one sample to another, but on my sample at least, Poetic didn't leave any wiggle room for error on the pin-hole mic. If I were designing the case, I would have made a slightly bigger cut-out to allow for sample variation. The on-off switch and volume rocker are covered, which I think is the better choice - dust and grit can't work their way into the mechanisms the way they might with a cut-out. The controls are extremely easy to operate through the very flexible rubber, and their location is easy to find thanks to the high, well-defined ridges on the case.All-in-all this is one of the best ever, third-party, non-super big (not a Griffin etc.) manufacturer cases ever. I am really glad that it is a "branded" item, compared with the many "no name" silicone cases I used to get on Amazon for my iPod Touch. Being an actual branded item, you aren't reading a review of a generic no-name case never knowing whether what you order will be the same thing. Here, you can pick your vendor and so long as it is actually Poetic you should be good to go.Finally, the Poetic name on the back is hard to see unless you really look closely - nothing glaring or obtrusive.A great HD 7 case!(FWIW I cut out a same-size piece of masonite from a standard particle board clipboard. When carrying the tablet in my every day carry bag, I reinforce the front of the tablet with this stiff masonite both to protect the screen from whacks in my bag, and to add stiffness to the entire tablet - while the HD 7 is well-made, the more you do to remove the possibility of twisting or flexing the better. In a regular backpack instead of my small messenger, I don't even have to cut down a clipboard, I just slip a full sized clipboard into the computer slot then this HD 7 in Poetic case into the slot, face towards the clipboard, and now have great protection from twist/flex damage and pokes to the screen.)

A Handy Survival Tool (with the apps) for an Emergency Backpack
I was looking for an inexpensive small tablet that I could stuff practical applications on for use in an emergency survival backpack. Applications such as first aid, survival techniques, maps, etc. This product fit my needs in every which way, except one - it gobbles up power. A full charge is good for only two-three-four hours for maximum applications-downloads-videos. So I advise one have another portable battery for this product to extend performance time, if in the field. This tablet offers a lot of built-in applications in addition, along with Google Search and photo applications. To connect with the internet I use it where free wifi is offered. The applications I've chosen work without need for the internet. It works for me as another gizmo to help promote survival in emergency situations. Four stars only due to limits on power use. Would have given it a Five otherwise.

Asus products have been the best
WOW, have had some time now and have not gave a review for it. I have to say that it has lasted for this long so it is reliable or this one has been. It is not the most powerful or does not have the biggest screen but it's size is comfortable for a man hand or for kids alike. I would buy another if it broke down as it didn't cost a arm and a leg for a tablet that has a fruit shape stamped on the back. I actually gave away a 10 inch from that company. At least you can get apps from other sources, I don't like being denied an app because a company wants to lock me in and limit the selection of programs. Good deal for anyone who just needs a small tablet on a budget. I also have an ROG 17 inch laptop that has been nothing but a powerhouse. I am a confirmed fan of Asus products and when it's time to replace any of my electronic devices, I will look for there name.

Not as good as I expected for its price.
Although the Poetic GraphGrip has a more rubbery feel and grids on the bottom it is too loose fitting and it feels like it will slip off from the sides; I often have to be very gentle with how I hold it with the Poetic case on (which defeats the purpose of the case). The case "iShoppingdeals - for ASUS Memo Pad HD 7-INCH ME173X Tablet TPU Rubber Shell Skin Cover Case" (the product page under that title also allows you to choose between other ASUS model tablets: ME172V, ME301T, ME400C, TF201, TF300T, TF600T, and TF700T) is a no name brand and feels like more plastic than anything else (perhaps all of it is plastic) but it fits in tight and I don't have to worry too much about the case slipping off. I was a little disappointed that the case was a translucent than opaque but it was a good price and was only a fraction of the cost of the Poetic; I would have purchased this case instead of the Poetic if I knew before-hand how both cases compared.

low expectations but works surprising great.
Great android tablet for the price. I had initially purchased this low cost tablet to use as a video viewer since it is one of the few with interchangeable micro SD cards. I use it now for messaging, as a Kindle, video gaming, and a digital video player on trips. Loaded with KODI and Showbox. It does everything I load into it. It also wirelessly transmits to a bigscreen using an ASUS Miracast dongle. Seems to be limited to Android 4.4, but works well. Nice loud rear mounted stereo speakers, and easily accessible on-off, and volume switches. This may be getting a little outdated, but works flawlessly for me. I have been using it more than my iPad because of its convenient size, removable memory chips, and long battery live.

"Grip" case....
Initially I was looking for a 2 piece snap case, more like the hard cases you can get for most cellphones. This one is of course a rubber case that just slips over the tablet.A few things. The fitment is good, not GREAT, but good. All buttons and openings are where they should be and work fine. But it is rather loose fitting. The "grip" is not really all that grippy. In fact it is nearly as slick as the normal case that's on the tablet. It does however work well as a protective buffer. It's not what I was hoping for, but it will work for now.

Good product!
A sturdy case with very comfortable grip. Fit is a little loose for my liking though, but all cut-outs are perfectly positioned when in place.
