Southland Archery Supply SAS Pioneer Traditional Wood Long Bow

Bought the #35 model. There were no blemishes. It is a mild reflex-deflex flatbow with a locator style grip. Arrived with a 63 1/2"continuous loop string and fuzzy stick on shelf pad. Strung it up for a couple of hours and shot about a hundred arrows. It settled in at a brace height about 7.5 inches. By my method the draw weight was #36 at 28". I use a 26 1/2" draw length and the hand shock was no worse than my homemade oak lumber flat bow and a Howard Hill bow I once shot. It's fine. I replaced the string with a Flemish style and it shot the same. I shot the 3Rivers Premium Youth Arrows and some from AllWoodArrows that were spined for #40. Both shot well. I'm not sure how I feel about the leather grip. It moves a little.Things you might want to do:1)Be sure to get a bow stringer.2)Maybe replace the shelf pad3)Replace the string with a Flemish twist about an inch longer and experiment with brace heights.4)Remove or replace leather grip.

This bow arrived in flawless condition, complete with bowstring and a fur pad for the arrow rest. A must-have for any aspiring archer or traditional hunter. The bow itself is light as a feather, the draw is smooth, and the release is exceptional. I'm already shopping this seller again, the proof is in the bow.

I have been shooting traditional bows now for about 10 years. But I've always shot recurves. I wanted an inexpensive longbow to try to start shooting longbows with. I was a little apprehensive about buying it , but was extremely and pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It does come with the string, it is extremely quiet and there is very little Hand shock. And it shoots real well. For a beginner long bow it is well worth the money.

This bow is very beautiful. However and sadly, I purchased one that was way too long for my height and returned it. That being said, the customer service is excellent and the bow is worth the purchase. Beautifully made bow.

I rated this 5 stars because it is great quality for the price. Was a little leary buying a bow on Amazon, but I am very happy with the purchase. Bought a 45# bow (probably draws closer to 50# at my draw length). Previously I had been shooting my dad's 35# Browning fiberglass/laminate recurve, for decades, but I wanted to upgrade to something I might be able to hunt with. I was surprised how accurately I was able to shoot the bow right out of the box, using the same arrows I had for the recurve. Compared to my recurve, this bow has a little more hand shock, but it is more accurate, a tad bit more quiet, and has less finger pinch, like I was hoping for.

just got the bow today, shot about 20 arrows. shoots nice, feels very comfortable in my hand. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5. the hand wrap is kind of cheesey, and its hard to pull off the traditional look with the name of the bow in big white letters on the front of it. If anything put your name on the inside of the bow. So is there a safe way to remove the name without damaging the bow. Other than that I am very happy with the bow, my complaints are not a deal breaker......its well worth the money

On the brighter side I am so pleased that I don't have to return such an beautiful bow. It has definitely exceeded my expectations of what I thought I was getting. I received the SAS Pioneer Traditional Longbow 55#, only wished I had went with the 40 or 45# Looking forward to many memories with this bow!

The bow looks wonderfully crafted, strong and well built. I Have yet to try it out because i was one of those suckers who didnt look closely and thought the sting was going to be with the bow. So ill have to wait a bit more for my string to come in the mail. The box was in fair condition when i saw it. So i was a little worried what it looked like on the inside but it looked fine. For those two reason i give it a high end 4!
