Superb mower - cordless is the future
*EDIT START* - my verdict still stands in general but the battery does have an indicator of how much charge is left, by pressing a button on the front of the battery. However after a year of use I would add some caution on battery power and how capable it is with bigger lawns. If the grass is long and/or wet then your batteries will drain much faster, and possibly stop due to the temperature limit of the battery reaching it's maximum threshold. The battery temperature issue was more prevalent this year on damper and longer grass as the spring/summer weather wasn't as dry as in 2020 when the original review was written. When the battery temperature threshold is reached the mower will stop and you will have to wait for the battery to cool before charging. I would also now say the battery takes around an hour to charge at best. It's still very good BUT I would advise a 3rd battery, either the 2Ah or a single 4Ah version. That way you can keep one on charge , one charged ready to go, and one in the mower and rotate as required. This way you should never be without at least one charged battery, whereas with just 2 you could find like me, that you have one on charge, the other needing charge and the ability to charge delayed by the dreaded 'red light' temperature warning. I will buy the 3rd battery asap *EDIT END*This mower is superb. A proper quality product as you might expect from Bosch. It is easy to assemble (less than 15 minutes I would say), it is lightweight and you can easily carry it by the handle from front to back garden if needed. It folds up very compactly, the grass box is easily detachable as well. I bought the mulching kit as well and this really works well for mulching the grass into smaller bits and putting back into the lawn. Height setting is one-touch and couldn't be easier. The blade is pre-fitted and I think would last quite a while. It is not self propelled and I thought this might be an issue as my previous lawnmower was a petrol self propelled one. However, this is so much lighter that pushing it is really easy and turning ti as well. it has a roller for the striped effect which also works well. Setting the handlebar element is easy and just a click or two to get to the right height and angle. They really have though of everything with this machine. Now...the batteries. You get two plus the charger. I reckon it's an hour at most for each battery to charge from empty to full, they are 36v Li-Ion and even at 2.0Ah you will get around 40-45 minutes constant mowing. One thing I have learned is that unlike the petrol mower i can stop and start with ease instead of keeping the engine running to save the start procedure. I can easily for both front and back lawns with both batteries, and my back garden is around 50 metres long with about 250sq.m of lawn to tackle. One more thing, this thing is VERY quiet...not much louder than a a vacuum cleaner and much much quieter than the petrol mower. One last thing ....no servicing required! During the winter you can charge the batteries and store them, clean the blade and chassis, fold it up and store knowing it will be ready to go in spring with no air filters/plugs or carbs and cables to check. it might seem expensive but it's worth every penny.

Very disappointing
Bosch Rotak was a brilliant brand 7 years ago. I finally traded in my overworked and never let me down geriatric marathon runner of a lawnmower for 2 top of the range Rotaks and both bitterly disappoknted me. The lines are rubbish, tge wheel squeaks and wobbles, they push the grass over, cut badly, batteries overheat and run down quickly (I had to replace the 2 previously used batteries with 6 new ones). I can only explain the drop in quality to being manufactured in China. What happened to such an epic brand? Why are your 2 newest best products so expensive and poor quality? I loved my old Rotak. I miss it. Bosch, please contact me to explain yourselves.

Inhibiter switch.
Product came boxed and more or less assembled for me. The only problem I found was that I had to go to Tic Toc to get it started, inhibiter switch was my problem. It was probably my fault but I felt the diagram leaflets were not a great deal of use. Once started it was brilliant, lightweight, very quiet and easy to use around the lawn. Wouldn't part with it.

Instructions are rubbish
It has taken me ages to track down online what the little lever on top does. It turns out it is an isolater switch. But no where in the various booklets that come with this does it tell you this. It shows a pic of it but does not explain what it is. Turns out it won't work without it, so quite important, but not important enough for it not to be mentioned anywhere. It is not as quiet as they say and is no more noisy than my corded 650, but does feel lighter and easier to use.

Clever design that allows single handed height adjustment handle folds away for storage.
It is neat clever and well designed. When cutting longer damp grass it can put a pressure on the battery life and mean more regular swapping. To resolve this be prepared to purchase higher capacity batteries which is what we did which left the smaller lighter batteries for the Bosch strimmer. Having said that with the larger batteries it does a neat job and my 5'2" small built wife has been doing large sloped lawns with relative ease using this machine. All in all pleased with the purchase and would recommend. I have given 4 for lightweight - it might be five if we were to say "for the size of cutting radius and area that it cuts" and I don't want it to appear lightweight as in not substantial in its build it is well made.

Battery power
Good lawnmower design. Cutting blade is great. Massive range anxiety on 2A batteries. They can quickly overheat on medium to long grass and drain quickly. The mower is sold as capable of 500-650 SqM. But that take me x5 battery charges to complete. With each battery taking around an hour to charge, or longer if they have overheated. In effect you always need a 3rd battery so you can have one on charge. This device probably needs x2 6A batteries to make it worth while. Unless you have a lot of patience, you will get frustrated. It’s just like having a Nissan Leaf and expecting to travel to Scotland from London on Holiday. It’s not the experience you are expecting.
