Just got this and this is definitely a great hat for winter. I really like Ushankas and bought one off of ushanka.com (they carry really high quality ones) that was like $60 awhile back. I will admit it's warmer than this one, however this one is much nicer in that it has the clip plus a face cover. This one is definitely warm enough and the clip is a life saver. One of my pet peeves with hats is that when you go inside a building and take it off, you essentially have to either carry it around or find a place to stow it away. The clip completely eliminates that problem altogether, I can clip and hang it up nicely or I can clip it to my belt or really anything so that way I don't lose it + I don't have to carry it around in my hand. That alone is worth the money to me. And considering this is only $20 it's a really good buy compared to buying the other higher quality ones. Also the water resistance is really nice. A lot of the higher quality ushankas are made of thicker material but may not necessarily be water resistant (some are actually not even supposed to get wet at all, kind of defeats the purpose of a hat in my opinion) however this hat has not had any issues with water that I have seen. I wore it yesterday in the pouring rain and my head stayed dry and hat will not shrink. For the price tag and the quality this is a very good deal.My only thing I'll ding this hat on is the lack of custom size. I would prefer that they offer a "one size fits all size" plus let you customize the size assuming you know the size you want. However this thing fits my head perfectly fine. I just notice it's a bit looser than some other hats I have, but this is expected since they sell only the "one size fits all."

I wanted a hat to keep my warm when I walked to and from my truck at work. I shopped around and saw this hat and with the added face protector, I thought I would give it a try.Overall very pleased with the hat. It fits fine and is very comfortable as well. The lining is soft and keeps you warm which is what I was looking for.I wear a large size in ball caps and this fits fine.The ear flaps can by folded up and secured with the chin strap too if you don't need the added protection. The face piece that comes with it is nice.I found that I wear it a little differently though. I unsnap it from the had, and use the loops to attach it over my ears like a surgical mask and then put the hat on over it which makes it fit better on my face and gives it a better seal from the weather and to me is more comfortable.You can also wear the hat without the mask.My only "CON" is that the back of the hat does allow some exposure on the top of your neck because of the way it is designed, however, if you are wearing a jacket and or have a scarf or a collar covering your neck it is okay.Overall very pleased with the hat and it serves the purpose that I wanted it to.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:My hubby had this on his wish list for Christmas. Does he look like a dork when wearing it? Absolutely. Is he WARM while looking like a dork. ABSOLUTELY! I'm totally loving my dorky hubby with the warm head! I'm so glad he's a happy camper! (We do a LOT of winter camping, so he wears this often.

Bought 2 of these for me and my husband in black and khaki. We live in the western U.P. and and can get some frigid temps and biting wind. I really liked the concept of this hat with a detachable mask and I received right when the temps plummeted but, unfortunately, the hat fell short for us as we're both having issues.Pros:- loose so hearing not impaired- lightweight- very warm- super soft "fur"- quality appears goodCons:- one size fits all really doesn't. Fits loose on both of us. Perhaps a loose fitting is intended but would prefer the flaps to tighten more under the chin but, even with straps tightened all the way, there's a very large gap under the chin leaving neck exposed. Was hoping this hat would eliminate need for scarf or neck gator but that's not the case.- face mask rendered useless if wearing it snapped. Hat can't be tightened enough so face mask is also very loose and only provides coverage if you don't move your head because as soon as you do the mask creeps up and covers the eyes. Mask fits much better if worn around the ears which I find uncomfortable because then the mask almost feels too tight. I'm now wearing this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FSFYDKJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 under the hat on the really cold days which is providing the face coverage and also covering the exposed area of the neck.- as other reviewers stated, there is no place to store the mask when not in use.- could use a better design for keeping the mask from shifting or offer up different sizes.While I like the hat and the concept I find there are just too many things I don't like and therefore can't justify a 5 star rating. I was hoping to find something that would eliminate things like gator and scarf but something is still needed when it's real cold. I'm now trying to figure out how I can alter the hats with a set of buttons or something that will better hold the mask to the flaps which will keep the mask in place and at the same time pull the flaps up and under the chin. Didn't want to have to alter a $23 hat but had I bought them for the $14 price tag they are at the time of this writing I would have no problem altering. If our noggins were a bit bigger and our faces fuller maybe they'd fit much better. Thought about returning but could end up with same gapping issues under the chin and still need a scarf or gator as I didn't find a lot with a mask included. Perhaps once I alter I can eliminate the scarf and gator.

I love this hat. It kept me cozy and warm in the winter. I highly recommend.
