Solid, well-made dice - read to learn to test dice and how I tested these dice
Summary: Attractive, oversized dice in a nice little wooden box, passes the salt water test for inclusions. Recommend.Review: Plenty of folks have already praised the dice and the box and I have to be up front; they look like those little silly trinkets that appeal to me. The box is handy as a little dice storage box, hits the "cute and goofy and fun" feeling I want for RPG-related paraphernalia, and the dice look nice. They are easy to read, the fantastic, squiggly decorations look fun without making it hard to see the numbers, the colors stay where they should, and the edges look uniform. The downsides include that due to their size, they can knock stuff over on the table. Get yourself a dice tray, a little box, some restraint, something. Don't be the one who interrupts everyone for five minutes by sending ten minis and six dice flying off the table because you felt you had to roll the same way an MLB pitcher hurls a split-finger fastball. Now, let me educate the dice-buying gamer public as a grognard. Wiz Dice prides itself on making dice that are supposed to roll as close to truly random. They aim for well-manufactured and well-balanced. Most plastic dice are made by inserting molten plastic into a mold. When cheap dice are made, this process can include bubbles of air, little sealed bits of vacuum, or pieces of unmelted plastic that lead to "inclusions" that make the dice unbalanced. Basically, the density of a badly-made die is not uniform throughout the die. Additionally, badly-made dice can have edges that cause the die to favor certain numbers because, by not being uniform, the die loses more energy rolling over that edge. It's why casinos don't skimp on their dice; even a tiny statistical edge would be detected and the casino would lose the tiny margin they need to keep in business.Enter the salt (or sugar) water test, which is a cheap way to detect badly-made dice. Plastic dice *almost* float in water. Put enough salt (or sugar) in the water, literally as much salt as the water will dissolve, and the now-denser salt water will start to float some plastic dice. Dice with inclusions, such as bubbles, are a bit less dense and will float first. Additionally, if you spin a die with a bubble in it when it's floating, it tends to naturally come up on the same number(s) over and over. This is more common on solid-color dice than clear dice since clear dice will show you imperfections more clearly. A die with no bubbles doesn't float anywhere near as well as a die with bubbles because of density. It's why cheaply-made dice are pretty much cheater's dice They're just rubbish on the inside.Obviously, the salt-water test does not work with metal dice, which are much too dense to float no matter what you do to the water. These Wiz Dice are solid? Does that mean bad dice? Well, no - did you not read the first sentence of this review?I super-saturated water and in the dice went. They sank - a good sign, as it means they didn't have huge bubbles to keep them afloat. More salt, and they *barely* came up off the bottom of the cup, another good sign. When they got flicked around my cup of water, they did not favor coming up on any one side appreciably, showing that the dice don't have notable any internal defects that this simple test can reveal. On visual inspection, the edges are good and uniform. I can't say these dice would rise to casino-quality, as I don't know how casinos test their dice, but compared to the cheap pieces of junk seen in table top gaming, these would do. So good on Wiz Dice; these dice do in fact live up to the company's stated goal to make better, well-made dice.

Great dice!
These dice have a good weight, an interesting (large) size, and a very cool wooden box that gives the whole set a sort of mystical feel to it. Would recommend!

Very nice dice
Definitely a must have for an older role-player that doesn't like to wear their glasses. Easy to handle, easy to read, and still decorative enough to not feel generic. They have a nice feel and weight to them too.

Took a gamble with these, and I'd say I won!
I don't usually buy any product that hasn't been reviewed yet, let alone as a gift. But boy, I'm glad I took the chance with this set: they're amazing!I figure that, as the first reviewer, it'd be helpful to do a pretty thorough (ridiculously long) review, but to sum it all up: I'm extremely pleased with these dice, and they're an excellent purchase for pretty much anyone. As the product description says, these dice are sized at 25mm. As a reference, your average set of D&D dice are 16mm. On paper, that doesn't seem like a significant difference in size, but in person, these things are massive! The first two pictures show the d20 and d4 next their standard-sized Chessex counterparts, and you can see that the Nyx are about twice as large! If you're after a set of large dice, you've found them. They're described as "smoky black... with gold etchings", and that's pretty accurate, overall. However, the 'black' is more like a very, VERY dark blue-green, and shimmers -- absolutely gorgeous. The gold on the faces is matte rather than metallic, and isn't a in-your-face Bright Gold -- it's more of a true gold, maybe green-gold, and it fits very well with the main color of the dice.I think this point is very obvious, but just for the sake of clarity, the description refers to them as "SEVEN STONES", but these aren't literally made from stone. I'm not really knowledgeable as to how dice are made, but I'd guess that these are resin or plastic, just from comparing them to the Chessex dice I own. However, the size alone makes these heavy enough to create an amazing 'thud' that's weirdly satisfying to listen to.Also, these are claimed to channel the Greek goddess of the night, but I sadly cannot confirm nor disprove that. They are, however, weighted wonderful and get an even spread of rolls on each of the dice, but perhaps the manufacturer could include a certification of whatever blessing they add for channeling, y'know, just to be safe. ; )The wooden box these dice come with is, in two words, super cool! The recessed design is beautiful, clear, and detailed, but what really impresses me is that the sliding top is a shockingly tight fit-- holding the box vertically and lightly shaking it didn't dislodge the top at all, but it opens smoothly either by moving it with a sudden jerk or, y'know, by hand.I'm not entirely sure what sort of wood it's made from, but a relative of mine believes it's some form of pine. It seems to be built from either actual thin slabs of wood, or decent-quality plywood. Either way, you get the exact box that's advertised, and it's a good box. Now, the one thing that impresses my the most about these dice is the faces themselves. The description says absolutely nothing about it, but after comparing the faces for a bit, I found that the designs on the faces (excluding the numbers themselves) are all unique. There are some that are similar, but each face gets it's own design. And the designs are, frankly, better and more intricate in person than any of the pictures gives them credit for.If you're looking for some dice to paint, to challenge yourself with, to have the space for complex gradients or whatever you can think of, these are for you. However, after all of this praise, they aren't the best in terms of the of paint itself. The paint is uneven -- some bits of the faces getting a nice, think coat of gold, but other parts are thin enough to be somewhat transparent. There are also some bits of paint that aren't where they're supposed to be, with some blotches reducing the visibility of the numbers a bit. The third and fourth pictures show this, with the fourth being the most 'severe' blotch on any of the dice.I don't mind any of this, as I can remove the excess easily, have a ton of paint just lying around, and have always wanted to paint dice. For me, this is a minor error that'd only warrant loosing half a star, but if you're buying dice for the pre-painted faces only, these aren't going to be for you.The only other issues I could find were with the box and a couple faces on the d4.The box is every-so-slightly too short for the entire set to fit into, with each dice fully flush against the bottom. They all fit in pretty easily though, just not in that 'picture perfect' way.Two of the faces of the d4 have designs that are a bit off-center. It's doesn't affect legibility and only seems to be an issue on the d4, but it's something to mention. All of these issues are extremely minor for me, and the person these are going to isn't going to mind either. But, as these are manufacturing flaws, I have to take off a star for it.Overall, my biggest gripe with the Nyx set is that I didn't buy them for myself! The color is great, the decorations are wonderful, and the box doesn't feel like a cheap add-on! I'm a satisfied buyer, and the person these are for will absolutely love them!

Awesome giant dice!
I LOVE these dice! I had them saved in my Amazon cart for the longest time and finally decided to order them. They are GORGEOUS! Beautiful pearlescent grey/black resin dice with matte greenish gold lettering. I love the feel of rolling them! And the box that they come in is very functional and lovely. The lid stays on well, and it's pretty darn sturdy for an add on.I still give them 5 stars even though there are some flaws to them because you're getting a solid large set of dice plus a nice dice box for an extremely reasonable price. Some of the paint isn't 100% the best. My d10 has some paint out of the lines and tiny flecks on the face, but you have to look close. Some of the stamps on the wooden box are a little faint as well, but overall I consider this set to be well worth the price! This will be one of my favorites for sure! There are a couple reviews saying they were missing the d20, and I know how that could have happened. The d20 does not come inside the wooden box. It packaged on top of the wooden box inside a cardboard box, which isn't super sturdy, so that it can be seen through a little plastic window. I can easily see how the cardboard box could pop open and lose the d20. Poor packaging design :/

Love them and will use, but have some flaws
Although great and I love them, they do have some minor little flaws. People who like having things look perfect probably wouldn’t like these unless they had a way to fix them up

Good quality, really nice and good as a gift
Bought this pack with intention of gifting one of the 3 to my brother, one to my husband and to keep the pink for myself. They're really cool. Pretty nice boxes that they come in.
