Defective, obviously poor quality control.
The vise arrived defective. Missing the cotter pin that makes the jaws open and close when the main screw is rotated. I could buy a pin and install it I suppose but not going to do that. Poor quality control at the manufacturer obviously. It's a solid little vise but no good to me without working jaws. I purchased a similar, well constructed vise at Lowes. $5 cheaper and the jaws actually open and close.
