Excellent read with easy but detailed information. Comfortable but educational reading material.
The author writes very clearly and although philosophical it is easy to follow and understand. It is educational about a historic place and person impacting the world.

A great book about a great man
The book is in pretty good condition except for the jacket. The back of the jacket is torn, but I am glad to have it. The book has been very interesting since I know hardly anything of modern Egypt. I caught Anwar Sadat on a Meet the Press type show. I found him very intelligent and was much saddened when he was assassinated.

Great Read
I highly enjoyed this book. Sadat in many ways was a man of tremendous wisdom and political savvy. His memoirs span his birth, the free officer movement, Nasser's reign, and Sadat's presidency. Curiously, the book ends right before the Camp David Accords as he talks about the hopes he has in working with Carter. Sadat has many fascinating insights into Egyptian politics and the Middle East. I highly recommend this book.

A Favorite Book of Mine
A wonderful autobiography of a kind and humble man. I remember his simple delight in eating a roasted onion from his grandmothers fire pit. I read this book in 1978 and thanks to Amazon, I can buy another copy to give to a friend 35 years later.

In Search of Identity: Anwar el-Sadat
This book is really good because it contains powerful insights from the life of a man who not only saw struggle, but was able to overcome them. However, I would recommend reviewing the society and culture of Egypt before or while reading this book because it contains many references to the region and society of the country that may be unfamiliar to people from other countries or non-muslim readers. Overall, very good book.

Stimulating.
Just barely started the book. It is so stimulating I have to read it very slowly and digest it little by little.

Its' not the content but the cover that I don't like.
The book itself is in good condition but there are some things about which I am unhappy. First, it has a cover that is glued to the inside cover of the book both front and back so that it can not be removed. Why am I unhappy about this? Because the book cover also has a library label on the binding at the bottom which is unreachable behind a plastic outer cover which can't be accessed except from the very ends that are glued shut. In addition, it is hand stamped by the organization that owned it.I care about this because I not only want to read it but I am a bibliophile and I was not informed beforehand that this mutilation was true. It is one thing to have a tattered dust cover and lower the condition rating of the book because of it. That I can accept. But to have one that has the library marking on the dust cover and is then glued on, making it impossible to even rectify it without damaging the book? That is very misleading.

A forgotten Gem?
This book, like Anwar ElSadat himself appears to have sadly slipped form mainstream public view. I came across this book off the back of reading "7 habits of highly effective people". I remember the day El Sadat was assassinated. I have spent time in the middle East, but it was not until I read the book I realised what and incredible individual Anwar Sadat was and the contribution he made to world history and wold peace. His whole life story is driven by doing the right thing for his nation without compromising his fellow man. For some reason, Mandela, Rev Luther-king steal the limelight, but Anwar El Sadat has his place among all the great people in world history. He took his country to war with the goal of lasting peace. An inspirational book by an inspirational man.
