Cooking Beast.
What a fantastic beast. Being a useless cook myself I really am a fan of cast iron cookware, it cooks really well. Wifey performs magic with it. Great pan, not too heavy for its size and it really is a good size. This is one versatile piece of kit and being cast iron it is virtually indestructible so long as you don't drop it or plunge it hot into water. No implements can damage its surface. Keep it seasoned well and food won't stick. Fries, griddles. goes in the oven. Easy to clean ( when cool pour in hot water bring to boil for a minute, rub around a wash up brush, empty and dry it, then a kitchen towel and dash of oil to keep it seasoned and ready to go.) Excellent price too.Just to add. If you are a real fan of cast iron there is a dutch oven for sale on Amazon that has a lid that fits this skillet perfectly. This really extends its use plus you get a monstrously big dutch oven. Search Amazon for this.. Voilamart Cast Iron Dutch Oven, the big one with a 12" lid. Only twenty something quid at min.

Mother of all frying pans
I received my parcel with a handle sticking out. I thought ...... 'Oh no here we go' !!!On opening the parcel I was amazed and even more so when I picked it up. (Quite heavy).I only wanted a frying pan......I got the ........Mother of all pans !!!!The build of it is very impressive and certainly built to last. The sides are deep and can easily cope with a full family meal in one cook. Good design with the extra handle to make ease of lifting etc.Pre-seasoned with full explanation and instructions which is just a quick simple process and no big deal.UPDATE: - Used it quite a few times now and can't fault it at all. It's a rare nowadays that you find products where you know your money is well spent and this is one such product.

Butter baste like a pro and make the best Spanish tortillas ever!
This is probably the best kitchen utensil I've ever purchased, even nicer than my La Creuset casseroles. I followed online instructions for seasoning the pan by rubbing it with a little vegetable oil and then popping it into a hot oven for about an hour. I did this three times hoping to make it somewhat non-stick (this was my first cast iron skillet so I naturally wanted to get everything right). The first thing I cooked were spatchcocked quail that I started on the hob and finished in the oven, they didn't stick at all and came out beautifully, crisp yet tender. In my arrogance I then decided to cook eggs in it but this was a mistake, my seasoning was nowhere near mature enough to handle that and thus they stuck. I had at this point been using a spatula intended for pans with non-stick coatings.I stopped treating the pan with kid gloves and switched to a thick metal spatula; subsequently I cooked a few more meals on the skillet, noting with glee that with each dish the food stuck less and less.I tried to fry eggs again and this time they didn't stick to the skillet at all, and this was with little oil coating the bottom. For me, this is the most important test, the frying an egg test, and this skillet passes with flying colours. If you decide to purchase it cook with it (things like pork chops, steaks, gammon etc, using a metal spatula to really scrape it off the metal) for a few weeks before giving up. You'll be glad you did. I can't recommend this skillet highly enough and am relieved to finally remove toxic teflon from my diet and environment.

Just the job - non stick
This is the job.To season the pan I first rubbed the high spots off the casting with some wire wool, rinsed under water placed on induction hob with some quality oil and heated till just beginning to smoke and then removed the oil with some kitchen paper, repeated twice more but the last time with some salt and oil, cleaned, more oil to just hot and then placed in oven at 150 c for 15 mins then left to cool in oven.First use - no problem non stick and eggs done perfectly. No more aluminium, stainless steel or non -stick frying pans just this one.Pan is on the heavy side as would be expected but the lifting handle makes it easy to use.Would I buy again - without doubt.Price point is competitive.Very pleased.

So I think I have just wasted £30. Very disappointing
I had not expected to have to re-season this skillet every time after use. and the seasoning has to be done in the oven. The skillet with its handle is too large to put in my oven and close the door. And my oven will not work when the door is ajar (a safety feature) . So I think I have just wasted £30. Very disappointing.

No nasty sheddable coating
No nasty sheddable 'non-stick' coating. I'm sure if it's taken care of it will be a good addition to our cookware. Heavy though of course & non-smooth surface.

I looks a good buy. I have only cooked with it once ...
I looks a good buy . I have only cooked with it once - so it is a bit early to tell . A bit disappointed that there is a rise in the Centre so oil flows to the side . It is manageable though andit was a deal cheaper than many others . If I had paid twice as much and had a rise I would send it back . In the end you get what you pay for and I am 3stars happy.

Treat it right and it should last a lifetime.
Best frying pan I've every owned (been through a few). Came preseasoned which was too rough by far. So I gave it a good sanding on the cooking surface, then washed it out, dryed it and added veg oil all over then baked at a high heat in the oven for an hour. A very easy step and it has been brilliant these last few months. Used almost every day, only ever cleaned with boiling water and use only wooden utensils. The seasoning coat is now spot on. It's a heavy beast and as long as I can keep reminding my wife not to put it in the dishwasher or go anywhere near it with a scourer it should last a lifetime.
