A very light pad that provides good thermal insulation
It is essentially a role of closed-cell foam that accomplishes its primary purpose for little money. It is extremely light (I actually thought the box it came in was empty when it arrived) and it will do what this sort of sleeping pad is primarily intended for -- provide reliable thermal insulation while also offering a slightly softer surface under the sleeping bag. If you have ever had a cold night trying to sleep with only an air mattress between your sleeping bag and the ground or tent floor, putting this on the ground and the air mattress on top of it will gain a huge benefit in added warmth. If you have ever had an even colder night with the same set up, put the pad on top of the air mattress instead. The bad news is that it doesn't seem as durable as the ensolite pads I have used for years for the purpose but I suspect it would last for a pretty long time if it isn't used for a rougher purpose than sleeping on. Also, mine definitely needed washing when I unrolled it -- it had some sort of dirt-attracting, slightly-greasy film on it that rubbed off on my hands, but nothing that a quick washing with a sponge and a bit of laundry soap couldn't fix. Overall: It serves its purpose at low price; expect it do that, but not more.

great insulation, waterproof
This wasn't exactly what I expected. First, I thought it would be opaque blue, as pictured, but instead it is a rather unsightly pale green and sort of translucent. It really looks a lot like professional packing material. Second, I assumed that it would be similar to the foam camping mats sold at REI, but it is much stiffer and less squishy than the REI ones. The two are about the same thickness, and about the same for providing soft comfort. It is an exceptional insulator. I bought it to use in my freezing-cold kitchen to protect my feel from the frigid, hard tile. It works great. In fact, I can't tolerate standing on it in the summer because it reflects my body heat back to me so efficiently. It's better than the REI camping mats for this purpose because it is absolutely water-proof, whereas the REI mats will absorb water and eventually become saturated, and hence they can also stain if you drop tomato sauce on them (they take days to dry if you wash them!). This one doesn't accept water at all and everything easily wipes off dry or else can be removed with alcohol. So, if you like to camp in the rain or snow, this is a good choice. You will sleep on a little Island of Dryness. But if you are like me and want to use them on the kitchen tile, beware that this mat has very little grip. It's not smooth, but it slides anyway. I had to move mine from an area of high traffic to one where I mainly just stand still because I almost went flying several times.Only 4 stars because I'm rating it against something that I like much better.

warm, but short.
If this pad had been a few inches longer it would have gotten 5 stars from me.It's not super cushy, so you need a flat and smooth place to lay it on, but it does provide some cushioning against the hard ground. We got this to use as an isolation mat, not for its cushioning, and it does that job exceptionally well. It's wide enough to easily fit a "thick" adult on it, from shin to head (I am 5'10") and keep the ground from sucking all the heat out of you. The bottom side of me was the warmest side of me while laying on this mat, and that was in 35* nights, so I would guess that even at cooler temperatures it would do a good job of insulating your body from the cold ground. For the price, it can't be beat for its insulating properties, but if you are looking for a "feather bed" affect, this isn't the mat for you.

Reasonable for the price
I bought two of these, not expecting any super comfort or high quality. Some reviewers here seem to consider this garbage and not worth buying, but if all you need is something very basic to sit on or protect your air mattress I think this is perfectly fine considering the price.Sure, if you go camping every other weekend you might want something of higher quality, but for us this was perfect.

I like the pad but used it for a different purpose!
I don't know if I would use this pad for its intended purpose as there are other better products on the market. Perhaps if the foam was thicker?? Anyway, I used the foam pad to make a dew shield for my telescope and it worked well for that purpose. The closed cell foam is also good to use for padding purposes. I instruct drum lines and have found it useful for custom cut harness padding.

Used For Added Support For A Sofa
In the past, after using it for camping, I decided it might give added support to a couch that had become hard to get off due to lack of firmness of it's cushions. It was a big help. So I bought this one specifically for that purpose for a sofa at my daughter's because I had a hard time getting up off of it.It's not a cure, but it helps.

Great product
It gets you off the ground. THAT'S whats important. I strap this length wise across my ruck and use it to keep any jagged rocks, sticks, or anything i can't move by hand from poking into me while i'm sleeping in the bush.Anyone who has slept in a hooch with nothing but their sleeping bag on the ground knows that even this small padding keeping all those waking toss and turns from interrupting your restful sleep in the outdoors, can make or break how you feel the next day.

Great value for money
This is not the best camp bed in the world, neither is it the worst. It serves its purpose very well, and its great value for money. What else do you need?
