Works perfectly with SmartThings
I have this more than 7 months it perfectly works with SmartThings. I tested and attached history which shows sound detected. SmartThings routine can send push notification and send text to members when fire alarm is activated. It is perfect. I also have ecolink Siren that also works perfectly. I would highly recommend.

Never could get this to go off and send a zigbee signal reliably.
Followed the very poorly written instructions to pair the unit with my Zigbee hub, using HomeAssistant. However it fails to activate when an alarm goes off. After much messing with it for hours and days I haven't gotten it to work.

Ecolink zibgee Wireless Audio Detector - works but not great
This is one of the only devices that I could find to transfer signals from an old fashioned detector to smartthings. It is over priced for what it is but it does work. The instructions are not clear but after playing with it, I got it working. Battery level warning indicator is not always correct but I don't know if that is the device or smartthings incorrectly detecting the level. A good idea, moderately good implementation but horrible directions.

Simple Setup, Work Flawlessly
My previous setup to notify Smartthings of a Smoke Alarm activation was a module, hard-wired to the Smoke Detector. After several years, it stopped communicating with the Smoke Detector. This, "Sound Activated" method is much simpler to install and works perfectly; detecting the Smoke Alarm activation and notifying Smartthings.

Works well on Cox Homelife
This product picks up the particular sound frequency from my inter-connected wired smoke alarms and broadcasts an alert to my Cox Homelife security monitoring system. Before, if there was a fire/smoke event the sirens would only be heard within the house. With this device when there is a fire/smoke situation the Homelife monitoring people are alerted to it.

Unbelievably worthless product
Does not notice smoke detector test alarm.Yes, it was in "test mode", to the best of my knowledge, not that there's any way to know that it's in test mode besides just believing the manual when it says that it's in test mode for the first 15 minutes after it's powered on. The led does not flash red when hearing the sound, and nothing is reported to my hub.The device offers to report its battery status, but only reports it as "Unknown". Very helpful. The manual says that it will send a "tamper" signal when the cover is removed, but my hub's dashboard shows no evidence that this is even available. It does report report a temperature, which might be nifty if the temperature reported were accurate and the device actually detected alarms.

Don't buy this - Get the Z-Wave Version
I updated from 1 star to 3 because Ecolink's sales team is great - They swapped my unit for a z-wave version. I tried this device with three different zigbee coordinators - I was able to get it to connect with two of them (Sonoff), but the sensor will only stay on "Clear" even if there's an alarm going off. I have spoken with their tech support about this who said they experience the same thing. Don't buy this - even their own tech support said to get the Z-Wave version.
