much more than was expected
I went into this thinking I was going to get a crapy knife, but it was 25 bucks so what the heck right? well i got much more than i expected to.1) the knife: pretty decent, the blade came dull and it took me a little while to get it sharp but it holds an edge well. I was expecting the tang to be this tiny little thing with a pin in it, but its actually a big block of metal, held into the handle between two other metal blocks with a rod through it. very strong and stable, I have chopped wood with this thing, no problems.2) the survival kit: I will be honest here, the kit was total crap, I replaced everything but the razor blade and sewing kit, but here's what i got in it:9 matches, plus a good striking stripabout 5 ft of wire for trapping4 butterfly closure bandages (smaller than standard ones but do the job)a new fishing kit much better than the one provided+ the razor and sewing kit it came withbut here's the mystery, the pommel of the knife says "aitor 465" on it, for those of you that don't know aitor makes very high quality knives, that cost about 100 bucks, so i don't know if there was a shipping mix up or what but the knife is very niceSheath) the sheath is made of strong plastic with good chord wrapped around it, however it is fairly bulky.I like it but I replaced it with a thinner leather sheath for easier carrying.spear/second blade) also came dull, but good metal, and nice blade, good to have that extra.slingshot) works well, although I worry about durability, I lost this function because I changed sheaths, but I don't really mid that.bonus! - there is actually a whetstone in the sheath, but it is hidden under the chord wrapping, so i did not find it until I changed sheaths, it is flimsy, but since it is a bonus that i wasn't expecting i wont complain

Bad Communication
Bought and paid for 2 of these for my wife and I's camping/bugout equipment. Not a bad knife overall. Swapmeet quality, but seems sturdy and the compass does seem to work. The slingshot seems pretty cool too. Only problem is although we bought and paid for 2, we only received one, and it had some rust to boot. Tried contacting the seller concerning the issue, but no response. Then contacted Amazon concerning the matter only to receive an email response a day or two later referring me back to the seller. I ended up having to just request a return, but I think it's BS that I should have to pay for the return shipping. Seems like a scam to me. It'd make sense though, since the seller is based out of Florida, one of the biggest scam capitols in the world. I'm going to contact Amazon again before I pay for any return shipping, and research the Amazon A-Z Guarantee, as this SHOULD be covered, because so far this has been one annoying transaction.***Update: Amazon came thru on their A-Z guarantee, and secured my full refund without having to pay for return shipping. Thanks Amazon!!

Dull. Very Dull.
For the price, I got what I pretty much expected. It's made in China of course. The sheath is hard plastic with a metal divider between the knife and the plastic tray that holds the slingshot. The metal divider came out when I pulled the slingshot out. Everything else is jammed tightly into the handle in a clear plastic cylinder. The bottom of the knife unscrews and thankfully has an O-ring as the plastic tube cap is slip-on and I'm sure isn't water-tight.The knife blade is decently thick, but mine came very dull. Dull to the point I could run my thumb along the edge of the blade and have no fear of being so much as nicked. It took a lot of effort but I finally got it sharp. If you don't own a knife sharpener of some sort you better plan on buying one with this knife.I only bought it to stick in the back of my truck in case of emergencies so it'll do.

Whetstone but obviously made in China...
After reviewing this knife I ordered 2 for my son and I. I was under the impression that Whetstone made quality knives and I had been looking for high quality but affordable options. Upon opening one of the two boxes, plastic parts/broken pieces fell on the floor...there was no major damage to the box. After inspection I found that the flimsy, cheap plastic clips that hold the knife in the holster snapped like toothpicks somehow during shipment. Upon further inspection, I noticed that the belt loop and part of the "plastic" sheath were damaged. The belt loop would have immediately failed and the knife lost if I had chose to wear it and use it outdoors. I have bought Fisher Price toys that were more durable than this knife that was supposedly designed with outdoor survivalists in mind. Think twice about this product...cheap, flimsy, weak plastic construction...AND the blade had absolutely NO edge! You couldn't cut cheese with it out of the box. I returned this product immediately. Made in China, and I should have known better. I'm going to visit my local military surplus store...made in the USA!

Cheaply Made
I like the medal Handle, but the blade is more dull than a butter knife. The weight is good, but the sheath is very low quality. The plastic clips on the straps broke the first time I used it. Had to replace with some paracord to hold the knife in place.

Good weekend knife.
First off, this knife scores high, especially for the price! But here's what I've gotten over the last year.Pros:- The blade is pretty sharp out of the box.- Double serration saw on back side of is wicked sharp!- 1 inch gut-hook/bottle bottle opener is a nice back-up knife- Hard plastic case is quite sturdy.- Sling shot works pretty well for such a small opening!Cons:- Everything in the handle (except for the compass) is trash! You'd do better filling it with your own supplies.* I spearfish so there's no use for the fishing line in my case, I'm also in the medical field so I placed water proof band-aids and a small suture kit in mine.Over all best investment I've made on a weekend minimalist camping trip. I'd recommend this knife to anyone, any day of the week!
