ChevronSAE 20W-50 Supreme Motor Oil - 1 Quart Bottle

The market for motor oil is littered with confusion, marketing nonsense, and Internet "professionals". I have a BS in Chemistry but I'm not involved in the petrochemical market. Having said that, I've had a queer propensity to research motor oil for the last 25-years and it has largely been a waste of time. The best advice I can give you is to follow your owner's manual, not the Internet reviews and articles.Much is made of synthetic vs. traditional or refined base oils. The reality is that all oil these days are a complex mixture of various chemicals to meet the specifications. There are benefits - trade-offs to various base stocks and as a consumer, the only thing you should concern yourself with is that it meets the specifications in your owners manual and that you change it in accordance with modern Oil Change Monitors now used by all manufacturers. Ignore any advice to the contrary.Another note... oil change intervals are longer these days. It is a result of better manufacturing, better fuel delivery, less fuel dilution, better fuel quality and better oil formulations than we had 10-20 years ago. Trust your owners manual and Oil Life Monitor. Ignore the claims by people that a given oil, synthetic or traditional, should go a certain amount of miles. They often are just repeating information they learned in the past and is often no longer valid.Chevron has a good reputation and they are one of the few suppliers that pull the product out of the ground, refine it and then design, and cook everything all the way into the bottle. I'm not sure that matters but they produce a high-quality product, with very good consistency as spot checked by 3rd parties and they sell it at a very reasonable price here on Amazon. Buy and use with confidence if it meets your owner's manual specifications.

Best motor oil for older cars. I’ve been using Chevron 20/50 motor for my 1987 VW Jetta for decades & it has sustained the life of my vehicle in addition to using premium gasoline.

Does what I needed it to do to keep my hydraulics running

Same thing as Havoline. This is my new go to oil. I've been a yellow bottle fan for years, but my new truck always seem to be a little noisy. I came across this crazy good deal and bought a case. Motor seems to be a lot quieter. Of course that may just be in my head. I do know this is a great conventional oil at a great price. My father in law has always ran this in his 3/4 ton gas burner. Pulls hay, cow trailers, and tractors. Engine doesn't burn at drop and at almost 200k. Haven't even had to move up to a heavier grade. (Still using 5w-30)

Usable and comfortable handleThin see through line on spine of bottle to see oil level with markers in liters and quarts.Re seal-able cap does not leak after several uses.Air vent just inside cap helps oil flow at a steady rate. Nice touch !!! Not all bottles have this.Can grab it from the front side as well.

As far as I can tell, it performs as well as any other standard type of 5w-30 oil. I'm using it in my wife's Honda Accord. For half the price of most oil at brick and mortar stores, I see no reason not to recommend this. If I had a high performance vehicle (which I sadly don't) I might not have risked the purchase, but I have no reason to believe it functions any differently than other oils.
