It's fairly quiet, but awful to install, and operate
I bought it because it claimed to be quiet. It is fairly quiet, and I do like it now that we managed to install it. It was very difficult to install, and once installed, it slopes down towards the back a bit. The controls are also a bit difficult to figure out, takes repeated looking up in the manual just to figure the lights. If there is a momentary power outage, the lights have to be reset. it seems to default back to the factory settings, which leaves a night light setting on all the time. So, despite the fact that it is quiet, I really can't recommend it.

Great Fan, just alittle tough to install.
This is a great Range hood. Looks good and moves a lot of air! I compared a lot of different hoods and was looking for something that could eliminate most of the odors and any smoke. Since I've installed this unit, it been hard to tell when dinner is ready around our house since the smoke alarm doesn't go off anymore!! :)Others have complained about the Night ambient lighting, but the instructions explain how to turn it off and I had no issues. On the other hand, the installation could have been easier. I've owned a contracting company and I'm also an accomplished woodworker. You DON'T need to be either to install this Hood, and on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being very Handy), I would rate this as a 2. I did a horizontal install with the vent (Broan WC638 3-1/4" x 14" Duct Wall Cap) exiting through a framed wall that had 'Hardy Plank' siding. The instructions were adequate, but don't try to measure for the location and predrill the front center mounting screw. It's much easier to predrill the hole after the hood is installed on the four corner screws since the hole for the center screw is the same size as the screw and there's no margin for error. The only other issue is the placement of the front left mounting screw. When it comes time to tighten it, the Hood's fan is in the way and I needed a flexible shaft screw driver, something that most home handymen might not have.Overall this Range Hood has lived up to it's Reviews and my expectations and I would strongly recommend it!!!Mike

Superb and quiet fan - see install note
This fan is excellent 5 stars for function!- very quiet, 4 bright lights! and at 630 CFM (horizontal discharge only) you can sear multiple steaks on a professional cooktop (we have a Viking) and not smoke yourself out of your kitchen! That said, read on for a few installation notes:This product arrived with a good set of install instructions. We installed the hood per specs but the fan had a wobble to it because the top part of the structure is thin, non-reinforced stainless steel. We mounted this on 5 screws, as the instructions stated and used 1" strips to flush mount with the bottom edge of the cabinet. (Side note: most modern cabinets have an overhang on the front edge, the photos in the directions even use wooden blocks at the screw mounting locations. We did the same). Basically, if this hood were flush mounted so the top were flush to a cabinet bottom all the way across the fan would not wobble. We phoned Braun who were exceptionally helpful on the phone! We ultimately sank in 2 additional screws to support the weight of the fan and this solved the problem. A tip would be to install a solid piece in the under-cabinet to completely fill the gap between cabinet and hood as you'll have a full surface to sink extra screws if necessary. Braun - great product in terms of function but you may want to consider reinforcing the fan with more structure.

Not recommended
While this may be a good product, the company evVivreHome was not helpful. I ordered the product after getting a go ahead from the installer. However, after going over the installation directions, it was clear that an extra intake air vent was needed. Since I live in a Condo this quickly became complicated. As it turned out, it was necessary to make a hole in the foundation, dig a trench and inset the air intake damper. This did not sit well with the Condo Association and I attempted to return the unpacked range hood. The request was denied without much explanation other than that the return fell outside their policy range.I suspect that the vent would work well in new construction but that was not clear in the description. At any rate, I wouldn't recommend this vent due to evVivreHome's return policy.

meet all my spectations
It works fantastic, the noise level is low when using it in the regular setting and even if I use it on the extra higher is not a great deal, probably as noisy as a normal fan on a medium setting sucking nothing. This fan suck the smoke, the smell, and the house doesn't smell after frying fish, or making a steak on the stove. Before I had an under the counter microwave with fan in it, but any time I was cooking the house would be full of steam, smoke, smell and you name it.To install it was not that complicated, but not that easy when it came to the exhaust tin part that goes inside the cabinet to connect to the hole in the wall mainly because the size was different to the other one, but with some inginuity I was able to do it.The only thing that we don't like is that the night lights turn automaticaly when is dark and I can't find a way to turn them off.

Do not buy this!
3 years of using this and all of a sudden, it automatically goes from OFF to the Boost fan mode on its own, even when there's nothing on the stove for hours. The only way to use/ stop this from working is to insert/pull the plug on/off the socket, a nightmare. Searched online and realized that this is a common problem and the heat sensor has to be replaced. Had a technician come in, paid $116 and he said that the heat sensor and circuit board has to be replaced, parts and labor costing $650. Did not realize that I paid $450 for this headache
